why hasnt Earl Barron signed?

29 other teams have had a chance to sign him since July 1 right? I don't see to many teams knocking down his door at the moment. If we sign him fine, if not ok what did we really lose? Barron is not a rotation player on a good team, I'd much rather see what Mozgov can give and watch Turiaf bust it for 20MPG.

His camp over played their hand when it came to free agency. A few teams might have inquired about him, just putting out feelers, but his camp took it as the other teams had a ton of interest and he probably thought they wanted to sign him. How mistaken he was.

We are not signing anyone for a while. The moment we sign another contract, we go over the cap and recent signings become trade ineligible. Walsh will ride this until the training camp.

Why is it always the worst possible scenario with you. The conversation probably went like this

Donnie: We will give you the minimum for this season
Barron's camp: We want more than that
Donnie: Good luck

No slap in the face, nothing. You are making it sound like Barron was holed up in the office building of his manager, taking in presentations from a bunch of teams, and wouldn't even give us the time of day.

We are talking about EARL BARRON. Nobody is making "pitches" to this guy. Pitch what? What the NY market can do to all his endorsement opportunities?

? The only reported offer made by the Knicks was before the end of the season when they tried to get him to agree to a non-guaranteed contract.

The Knicks unsuccessfully attempted to have the best of both worlds, trying to both lock Barron up with a contract, but also make it non-guaranteed in case they needed the salary cap space to sign bigger names like LeBron. Knowing he’d get better offers (and guaranteed ones), Earl smartly rejected it. With the Knicks hoping to land those big fish, they’ll be afraid and unable to make offers to “smaller” players like Earl until the dust settles and they’re sure they have the money for him.
