29 other teams have had a chance to sign him since July 1 right? I don't see to many teams knocking down his door at the moment. If we sign him fine, if not ok what did we really lose? Barron is not a rotation player on a good team, I'd much rather see what Mozgov can give and watch Turiaf bust it for 20MPG.
All-Time Draft

PG- Oscar Robertson/Bob Cousy
SG- Earl Monroe/James Harden/Dana Barros
SF- Billy Cunningham/Michael Finley/Chet Walker
PF- Elvin Hayes/Dolph Schayes/Tom Chambers/Danny Manning

we do need some bodies for the C spot, whats the delay?

We have 5 players that could play the 5 spot Mozilla.Ronny,Curry,Amare and AR,I really wouldnt call it a NEED as much as another guard.

ronny is a 20 min backup at best
amare at C is risking a injury
AR isnt big enough
who is mozilla? mosgov? that guy has shown nothing

Dont get me wrong I would love Baron back but I just think guard is little bit more of a need, being another point, combo or 2-guard.

His camp over played their hand when it came to free agency. A few teams might have inquired about him, just putting out feelers, but his camp took it as the other teams had a ton of interest and he probably thought they wanted to sign him. How mistaken he was.

We are not signing anyone for a while. The moment we sign another contract, we go over the cap and recent signings become trade ineligible. Walsh will ride this until the training camp.

pretty sure that's not how it works.

It's if we were under the cap when we acquired them, not under the cap now.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!

As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

who knows how many teams made pitches to him, it is known nyk did try, and he didnt accept...its pretty sad state of affairs when nyk is getting rejected by nbdl players (After being rejected by wade, bosh , lebron, melo, etc)

Why is it always the worst possible scenario with you. The conversation probably went like this

Donnie: We will give you the minimum for this season
Barron's camp: We want more than that
Donnie: Good luck

No slap in the face, nothing. You are making it sound like Barron was holed up in the office building of his manager, taking in presentations from a bunch of teams, and wouldn't even give us the time of day.

We are talking about EARL BARRON. Nobody is making "pitches" to this guy. Pitch what? What the NY market can do to all his endorsement opportunities?

How did Melo reject NY?

And whats worse?

Overpaying a D-League player?

Or offering a fair contract that was rejected?

? The only reported offer made by the Knicks was before the end of the season when they tried to get him to agree to a non-guaranteed contract.

The Knicks unsuccessfully attempted to have the best of both worlds, trying to both lock Barron up with a contract, but also make it non-guaranteed in case they needed the salary cap space to sign bigger names like LeBron. Knowing he’d get better offers (and guaranteed ones), Earl smartly rejected it. With the Knicks hoping to land those big fish, they’ll be afraid and unable to make offers to “smaller” players like Earl until the dust settles and they’re sure they have the money for him.

http://www.knicksfanaticsblog.com/2010-articles/april/earl-barron-rejects-knicks-offer-for-2010-2011-but-accepts-10-day-contract.html

The Knicks were hoping to sign Earl Barron to a rest-of-season contract that included 2010-11 for no guaranteed money, but that was turned down. Barron's agents think he might be able to get a better deal in the summer, which is why only a contract for the last few days of the season will be signed today. The Knicks do have interest in signing him once they've exhausted all their cap room this summer.

"He's a guy I'd say we'd be comfortable with. The only reason we're not doing it now is we don't know what the situation is going to be, what the cap is, what our situation will be as to how much (cap room) we have left and who we're going after," Knicks president Donnie Walsh told ESPN.com's Chris Sheridan Sunday.

We're still under the cap now even after signing Fields since he's getting a 100% increase in his second year of his contract.
