I liked him as a draft prospect but that is basically all he is. He was a top prospect for Russia when he played for the 18 under leagues but he hasn't improved since and is already 22 years old. If anything he will most likely never play in the NBA and that is even if a team goes after him.
Following the strict letter of the BAT rules, you are correct, it doesn't seem Shved can be drafted.
Quoting the BAT rules:
5. What Players are eligible to be on your Team or be Drafted?
Any player that was/is on a 2009-2010 NBA ACTIVE roster. Any Player Drafted in the 2010 NBA Draft. Any International Player who's Team still retains his Rights that was Drafted since 2006. Any Player signed by Aug 1st, 2010 of this Year's Free Agency.
Shved wasn't on any 2009-2010 NBA ACTIVE roster.
Shved wasn't drafted in the 2010 NBA Draft.
No team has his rights (he's never been drafted by any NBA team).
He's not signed with any NBA team as of Aug 1st, 2010.
And...it doesn't look like he will for the upcoming season (since we had discussions about being flexible about the Aug 1st, 2010 deadline for guys that appear will definitely sign.
Woulda been a real nice pick as a future asset...Shved is an extremely talented player. You can wait for mags to make a final judgment call or pick someone else.
