Bledsoe Trade

2012 first round draft pick from L.A. Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers’ own 2012 first round draft pick to Oklahoma City (top 10 protected in the 2012 draft, top 10 protected in 2013, top 10 protected in 2014, top 10 protected in 2015 and unprotected in the 2016 Draft). In addition, if the Los Angeles Clippers are required to send their 2012 first round pick pursuant to the above and are also entitled to receive Minnesota’s own 2012 first round draft, then Oklahoma City shall receive the lesser of the Los Angeles Clippers’ own 2012 first round pick and Minnesota’s own 2012 first round pick. [L.A. Clippers -Oklahoma City, 6/24/2010]

In reading the stipulations. The Thunder will probally get a first round pick in 2012.

2011 first round draft pick to L.A. Clippers from Minnesota
Minnesota's own 2011 1st round pick to the L.A. Clippers ( top 10 protected in 2011, and unprotected in the 2012 Draft). [LA Clippers - Minnesota, 8/12/2005]

The T-Wolves will be a lotter team again this season. So the T-Wolves will be able to keep their pick. But, in 2012 if the Clippers pick #11 and Minnesota picks #3 we will get the lesser of these two picks.

(What does Lesser mean?) Lesser Value or the lower pick?

You're reading it wrong. We get the Clippers pick if it's not a Top 10 pick until 2016 then we get it unconditionally. The additional stipulation is in case the Clippers get a pick outside the Top 10 in 2012. Since the T-Wolves owe them a pick, we'd get the worse pick of the two assuming the Clippers pick is not in the top 10.

For example. If the Clippers get pick 11 in 2012, and the Wolves get pick 5, we get the Clippers #11 and the Clippers get the Wolves #5. If the Clippers get pick 11 and the Wolves get pick 20, we get the Wolves pick 20. If the Clippers get pick 10, it doesn't matter what the Wolves pick is, we don't get anything.

Slick. What do you think about the trade? Do you think Bledsoe would have been a good fit here?

No, Sam Presti likes a veteran third PG as he's demonstrated again by waiving Kyle Weaver and acquiring Royal Ivey. Bledsoe is probably better than Ivey, though.

There were two reports on draft night that Presti wanted Kevin Seraphin at #18 but arranged to trade the pick when the Bulls picked him for the Wizards at #17. The draft probably would have been a home run if we had gotten Seraphin.
