Varejao expectations

Post#1 » by Jenner » Wed Aug 25, 2010 5:03 pm

Hey guys. I did a thread on Mo Will like this, I figured his role would increase. With LeBron gone he has to do a lot of the scoring and creating.

What do you guys think Varejao can put up this year? No Shaq or Big Z, and only Hollins behind him at center. Will he play 35 mpg and put up something like 10-9 with 1 block and 1 steal? Or will he just stay the same he has always been?

Varejao isn't too crafty on the offensive end, he is better on defense. Guys like parker and moon will step up.

i played the Cavs against the Wolves Andy played insane in the membrane in a 122-98 win, 49 points 7 rebounds on 22 for 23 shooting lol. Faster you guys clean the debris except Hickson and Sessions the rebulidin process with just take longer and ya ive seen it with the Kings. Once Webber was traded in 2005 that was the start but then they still tried to be competive with what they still had which was stupid. From losing to Jerome James Sonics in the playoffs then the Spurs happened, they contiuned on a downward spirial. The Kings were awful before the 2009 draft probably the worst in the league, so it took them 4 years to start the uprise. You think Mo, Ramon, Jamison, and low lottery draft picks equall a contending team.... time to

I don't think that would suprise anyone.

He'll have to get more minutes than he had been with the loaded rosters so his numbers will bump up.

People tend to discount his ability on offense. I don't like him facing up and trying to take somebody off the dribble anymore than anyone else, but people need to remember how he got his points. He didn't get them because of LeBron, he got them because he knows how to move without the basketball. There is going to be more motion in the offense under Scott and that will work to his advantage.

There should be more rebounds available as well since the defense wont be able to pack the lane after Lebron pounds the ball outside for 15 or so seconds. Most of Andy's points are off his cuts to the hoop, and put backs which should also be up due to more possessions on offense as well.
I wouldnt be surprised at a double double like 11/12 or something along those lines.

I love Varejao but is it wrong for me to hope he gets traded? I want him to maximize his value (which he may have already done) and then for us to get a young stud or some picks we can build around.

I'm on board with this. Andy's skills are best used on a contender.

On a rebuilding squad, I'd rather have bigs with more overall upside. Not that Andy is not a great player - he definitely is, but he is a complementary piece on a contender, not someone you build around.

I'm not against moving Andy, but at this point there are several other players I would rather see go first. I am not concerned with the Cavs record this season I just want to see the rebuild started. If it means moving Andy then so be it. I think he can actually increase his value somewhat if he can sustain his energy level playing 35 minutes a game as opposed to 25 to 30 per.

I'm all for moving Anderson for all the reasons aforementioned, but I don't want to move him unless we get something decent back.
