I'd do that IF Melo signs an extension and only then, but we would still need to get a C. Mbenga & Rasho can be options

Rasho signed with Olympiakos this summer.

Any team that trades for Anthony will only do it under an extend and trade. Denver doesn't want to give him up for nothing or just expirings. The team acquiring Anthony only gives up talent, young players or picks if they know he's going to be around for at least for a few seasons. I don't think there is any worry at all about getting screwed over in that regard.

Anthony, Nuggets look ready to part ways

The Nuggets made it clear to teams they want young players and draft picks for Anthony, league executives said. The New Jersey Nets and Los Angeles Clippers have emerged as the two most probable destinations for Anthony because they have assets that appeal to Denver. The geography works for Anthony because of his wife LaLa Vazquez’s entertainment career.

Golden State and Houston are contenders, too. What’s more, the Charlotte Bobcats are a sleeper because of Anthony’s Brand Jordan shoe deal and the team’s ability to give the Nuggets a salary-dump proposal.

Provided we don't have to give up much, I'd love to have Melo as a player. I'd hate to have to deal with the baggage that Rose, Wesley and CAA could bring. I'm all for players getting the best deals that they can get, but I'm not a fan of all of influences that these players have that attempt to strong arm teams. If you are an organization with a strong brand equity, you have less to worry about. The teams on the other side of the coin have a higher chance of being a victim.

Larry Coon (NBA Cap Specialist) feels that we could offer the best package. Kaman, Aminu and Minnesota Pick. Melo would just have to not be opposed to playing here.

Those Houston guys are questioning why he would wanna play for LAC. Umm...because a lineup including Griffin/Melo/Gordon/Davis would be potent as hell. If they can acquire Dampier somehow, that starting lineup would be pretty damn good.

I say do it. Trade 3 or 4 players. It is what the clip joint always does. Goes for the fast easy way and gets burned at the end. Long live the Lakers.

I'd love to hear an example of the Clips always trading 3 or 4 players for a player of Carmelo Anthony's caliber. The Clips have been stockpiling talent for years, I'd also love to know how collecting prospects the past 3 years has been fast. Long live the LA Clippers.

The Clips would HAVE to give up Blake since the Nets are dangling Favors and picks in front of them.

Favor's draw lies in him hopefully realizing his potential 3-4 years from now, Blake's draw is that he is a ready made product that will only get better. After all the Nets did trade for Murphy regardless of having Favors already there so I think the Clips can get away with a deal centered around a few of their current draftees, Kaman, and the all important Minnesota pick and a few of their own picks. I honestly think Gordon being included would seal the deal but that would gut the roster far too much.

Any trade that happens, Melo has to agree to. No team is going to give up valuable pieces unless they are getting an extended Melo. Therefore, Melo is not going to go to a team that has been gutted of a significant amount of talent. The primary reason Melo could even potentially want to be here is because of Griffin. Remember the Kobe situation a few years ago with the Bulls? So there's NO CHANCE that the Clips would give up Griffin.

I wouldn't trade any combination of Griffin, Gordon or the Minny pick for Melo. Any other combination of 2 to 3 players and/or future draft pick could be offered. If some other team outbids the Clippers, too bad, no reason to overpay for him.
