What the cops did was pretty standard for a felony stop...which is common when you stop someone going at a very high rate of speed who was driving recklessly. May not happen all the time, but it did not seem unwarranted or unusual to me in this situation.
Using airplanes for speed enforcement is not new...that has been around for decades. The technology has been around for a long time to judge the speed of a car on the freeway from the air.
