WT: Melo, let's bring him to the Jazz.

Post#1 » by Jazzfan12 » Mon Aug 16, 2010 11:57 pm

Nuggets get: Paul Millsap, Gordon Hayward, Ante Tomic
Jazz get: Carmelo Anthony

Lineup:

PG: Deron Williams
SG: CJ Miles
SF: Carmelo Anthony
PF: Andrei Kirilenko
C: Al Jefferson

Pros:

-In bringing in Melo and moving AK to PF, we're adding a superstar power forward, and are potentially regaining a DPotY caliber PF, potentially having four stars, while massively improving the spacing.

-Denver gets a great player in Millsap and two very good prospects in Hayward and Tomic.

-Jazz could win title and get Melo to resign.

Cons:

-Deron, Melo, and Big Al with only one basketball sounds like pain

-Tons of bad blood between Denver and Utah makes trade unlikely.

-Good chance of Melo leaving after the season.

I don't really want Melo and there's almost no chance the Jazz get him, but fake trades are fun.

That's just ridiculous, trade your future for one year? Not to mention that if Melo leaves we would probably have Williams walk too. No thanks.

No way in hell he comes here. He is going to NY or some other large city.

griffith on the radio said, coming out of college, he would not have chosen utah. he would have chosen a larger market. i started thinking, the only way to get (great) players to choose to come here is to draft them or pay them. only players of bell's caliber would choose utah.

If I were GM, I would use deron like riley used wade. Just get deron to see if melo would leave or not if he played for Utah, and if deron was pretty confident he would stay, pull the trigger. I could see him staying just because I think his biggest grivance is just how much the nuggets suck / rely on him on offense, not necessarily the market (although i do this he's heading to a bigger stage).

Too bad he's in our division, that more than anything kills our chances.

It would be great but i can't see a guy like Melo playing 1. sloan basketball, and 2. playing for Utah of all places. I have said before that I think it would be sweet to have him on our team but still its not going to happen. What we need is to find an unsuspecting super star in an existing player or the up coming drafts.

I live in Miami, and believe me, it's far more than using Wade's star status to fish in superstars. It's MIAMI, while most young black athletes are not interested about making SLC their home address. That plays a bigger key than ANYTHING. Utah for years has been a key move away from a title but players don't make sacrifices to move here. If Malone/Stockton weren't enough to attract stars, then much less would Williams/Jefferson.

Now as far as Anthony is concerned, as far as All-Stars are concerned, he's one of the few that I think would be willing to make the move, since he lives in a city that is geographically similar to SLC, and not necessarily a NYC/LA/MIA type of town.

Using DWill to recruit him won't work when he is going to have Amare and CP3 in NY beckoning him there. This is impossible.

Jazz w/ Melo without losing Deron and and keeping either Millsap or Jeff puts us as a legit contender in the West.

Some sort of trade based on Millsap for Melo would be sweet.

Agreed, Melo would be a great addition. If only this were realistic.

The Jazz won't lose any sleep over it, and neither would the fan base, but if that punk ever puts on a Utah jersey, I'm peacin' out. Cannot stand the guy, and he hasn't changed since high school (when I watched him play a great deal, because he's from my area) in his mindset.
