The guy is a decent bench player and has some talent. Problem is he'd be the 3rd string undersized SG on this team, lol. I don't even know why we'd be at all interested in the guy to fill out our roster right now.

Maybe if they have a deal in the works for Mo or something, but otherwise I don't get this one at all.

Grant gives me the impression he's being safe and conservative.

IMHO, a GM needs to be willing to take risks and be more aggressive. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

After being so proactive with getting a new coach, I'm surprised Gilbert didn't order Grant to offer a contract to T-Mac.

He's looking good in workouts with the Piston trainers and players, the healthiest he's been in the last 2 years. I'm really interested in seeing what he does in training camp and preseason.

Dumars already has a lot of young talent--not that he's stopping with what he has.

He decided to give T-Mac a shot to see what he can offer and give the youngsters another vet to hone their skills against in practice.

Plenty of people questioned Dumars' decision to sign McDyess in 2005 and Ben Wallace in 2009.

If T-Mac doesn't work out, he can be cut.

This signing's more lateral than the others.

It's speculated that T-Mac was signed to soften the hit of trading Prince/Hamilton if/when it happens.

T-Mac impressed the Piston brass in his workouts. He checked out with the Pistons physical trainer and Will Bynum, who trained with him in Chicago has said T-Mac is looking more like T-Mac. He also agreed to be a reserve, so Dumars wants to add some punch to the bench and is looking to accelerate the learning curve of some of the youngsters.

He doesn't talk like Iverson and he's signed just for the vet minimum.

Its a decent signing for a team like the Pistons, but it wouldnt make any sense for the Cavs. TMac wouldnt do anything for the Cavs other than eat up a lot of minutes that we can give to the young guys to see if they can develop. If he played the center position it would make a lot more sense.
