[Build A Team 4.0] Auction Thread - 1st Post Has Tracker

Post#1 » by magnumt » Fri Aug 27, 2010 5:39 pm

Auction Results Tracking: http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1038353&p=24827377#p24827377

Monday at 10 AM EST Sharp the Auction begins. It will end at 12 AM EST Saturday.

Just like in the past, it will Round out the final 3 Spots of a Team and it will be on a 1st come-1st serve basis.

New to the Auction is the ability to select 2 Assistant Coaches. Assistant Coaches cannot be cut, and are locked in once you choose them (much like the new Head Coach feature of BAT 4.0).

Note: The Asst. Coaches you select (if you do) just have to have Coached in the last 20 Years (since 1990). This means that you CAN select any new Coach, just pick someone who has Coached in the last 20 Years, or newer (no Coaching Experience is fine, but run it through me, nyknicks2k2 or Moocow 1st). PM me if you need any clarification on this (just don't ask me about specific names).

Teams will post anywhere from 1-3 Guys that they want, and up to 2 Assistant Coaches. You can even skip the Auction if you want.

Please just post your selections (and Waived Players). ALL other Posts WILL be Deleted. Thanks

The MIAMI HEAT select

Assistant Coaches:

TERRY PORTER

A tough nosed player as a member of the great Blazers teams of the 80's, Porter's focus is on defense and bringing that same lunch pail mentality on the basketball court. Having had success as a head coach in Portland and Milwaukee, the Miami Heat will look to Terry Porter to get players mentally focused on playing lock down drag out defense and bringing that same take no prisoner mentality that he played with to the players on this team.

Image

TIM GRGURICH

Grgurich has been an NBA assistant coach for 17 seasons, 11 of them under George Karl. Grgurich is widely respected in the basketball community and acknowledged as one of the best individual workout instructors in the league.

Image

http://www.nba.com/2010/news/features/steve_aschburner/08/03/grgurich.feature/

Who is Grgurich? To those outside the NBA, he might as well be a ghost, a figment, a pebble-grained version of Keyser Soze. He would be a top candidate for the NBA's "Most Interesting Man in the World" title, except Grgurich would beg out of the beer commercials. He shuns the spotlight and assiduously avoids talking to the media, and if you search for him by name on basketball-reference.com -- at this point, pretty much the cyber-bible of the NBA -- and you'll get a response that reads: "Found 0 hits that match your search." Which is standard for assistant coaches, though few have had the impact of this one.

"There have been two major forces in the development of players and coaches over the last 20 years: Pete Newell and Tim Grgurich," Dallas coach Rick Carlisle told the Boston Globe. Only Carlisle said that back in 2004, when he was coaching Indiana and spending summer days both at the Grgurich camp and at Newell's more famous "big man" variation.

These days, Grgurich's camp is institutionalized enough that NBA teams pick up the expenses for their young players to attend and generally have coaches or personnel men drop in to chart progress. Grugrich doesn't charge the players for their participation.

Free Agents Signings:

MARQUIS DANIELS

Another extremely versatile player, Marquis Daniels can play both guard positions as well as the small forward position quite well. A physical and athletic presence, the 6'6" wing is a tough defender and a very efficient scorer (having an outstanding 46% FG throughout this career). A proven competitor and someone who has shown he can produce and play major minutes if needed, Daniels will offer both depth and insurance at multiple positions. At 29 years of age, Daniels remains a player in his prime.

Image

TIM THOMAS

A versatile 6'10" player, Tim Thomas will be looked on to provide a deep threat for this Heat team (shot 43% from the field in his last full NBA season) as well as a versatile offensive player who can play all front court positions.

Image

GARY NEAL

A star of the Italian A1 League last season, Gary Neal dominated vegas SL play shooting 50% from both 2 point and 3 point range while leading the Spurs entry in scoring. A dynamic and smooth shooter and facilitator, the Heat will look for Gary Neal to carry his great offensive tools into their run for the title.

Image

http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Gary-Neal-544/

Gary Neal is a star of the Italian A League last season, leading the league in scoring at over 20 points per game, and is managing to do so in an extremely efficient manner (63% 2P, 37% 3P, nearly 3APG, 5 FTAs per game) despite shouldering an absolutely massive offensive load for Benetton Treviso.

Neal operated as Benetton’s main facilitator and looked absolutely outstanding creating shots for himself and others on the pick and roll, being arguably the most complete offensive player in that league.

While no one will confuse him with Steve Nash anytime soon, he has improved his playmaking skills substantially while keeping his turnovers to a minimum. Neal is very effective off the dribble and possesses a terrific long range shooter, needing very little space to get his shot off thanks to his quick release and excellent body control, being equally dangerous coming off screens.
