Melo proposal

Post#1 » by JJ13 » Fri Aug 27, 2010 7:58 pm

Sorry to create a new thread, but I think it's crazy if we don't go after one of very few franchise players in Melo...especially since (1) he wants out so badly, (2) we just lost STAT as our franchise player, and (3) I feel Melo could help us get over the hump, and would excel in a running system.

I would do this proposal in a heartbeat assuming he'd sign an extension:

PHX gets: Melo

Denver gets: Richardson, Dudley, Clark

I'd rather offer JRich + Warrick for Melo, and maybe add a pick or two - keep Duds and Clark - they're cheap and young

Agreed though, Melo would thrive here

of course i would like to see him in our jersey but its just not happening. the nuggets will look for more - and melo wants to move to new york. and he would lift us nowehre since the fact that we are missing a starting pf wouldnt change by adding melo..

Props to the great one

It will all depend on where Melo wants to sign. I doubt he will sign an extension with teams like the Clips. Of course Denver prefers to do business with teams like the Clips because of the lottery possibilities.

I wouldn't include Dudley for Melo. Frankly I am more excited over JChill then anything Melo might bring.

I don't see why he would want to go to Phoenix.

For most players it's the weather and player friendly enviornment but yeah he seems like a bright lights type of guy.

I'd take Melo for J-Rich and Clark.
The Phoenix Suns - 54-28. Projected Record: 54-28 3rd Seed

The Phoenix Suns - 2010-2011 Projected Record: 30-52 3rd lottery pick.

You guys are ridiculous for thinking Denver would accept such a lowball deal...

J-Rich is a huge expiring. So is Melo if he decides not to sign an extension. So Denver don't really benefit from it, besides the fact that Melo is a much better player.

Dudley will need a big, new contract soon.

Clark has shown nothing.

All that for a top 10/top 15 player in the league?

yeah exactly

the proposed package is garbage compare to what NY could offer (something like Randolph+Galinari/Chandler+picks and salary fillers)
hell even Houston or some other random teams can offer a better deal

That is irrelevant. What is relevant is who Melo will chose of sign an extension with because nothing happens unless he is willing to sign and extension to the team he goes to (no team is going to give up picks for a one year deal).

Denver is in the same position as the Suns were with Amare. All they can do is dream of getting a highball offers that never come.

It isn't about what Denver will bite on or not. Its all about where Melo wants to sign.

I dont want Melo here. WE're talking about giving up all our young talent for, a one-year rental. No way.

So its pretty much a J-Rich for Melo trade? Because according to you, Earl Clark is worthless.

Yes. I'd do anything to ship EC out.

Because J-Rich for Melo straight up is completly fair isn't it? :D

What's your take on Gani Lawal?

It's obvious EC has wronged hunter and his family in some past life.

Sometimes it is amazing how much potential is valued over proven experience......

I think I had a thread like this about a month or so ago. For an unextended 1yr rental Melo I think J-Rich, Clark, Duds and 2012 #1 for Melo and Afflalo. That fills the talent gap now and for the future for the Nugz. I would not consider adding Dragic to that package for a 1 year rental. If Melo was extended I would very much consider adding Dragic in some form.

Nash/ Dragic/ Jannning
Afflalo/ Chill
Turk/ Hill
Anthony/ Warrick/ Lawal
Lopez/ Frye/ FA
