State of the Team

Post#1 » by Visigoth » Fri Aug 27, 2010 2:41 am

Hey guys,

I used to be a really avid NHL fan, and followed the Leafs till about the 2005-2006 season. Since then I've completely lost touch of the NHL entirely. I've recently gotten the urge to pick up where I left off, but obviously I don't know anything about the leafs at this point.

Anyway, could someone give me a very brief summation of where the team stands right now? I know that Sundin isn't with the team anymore. A brief glance over at the team roster, and I barely notice a single name that I recognize. Is the team in a state of flux right now? Are we in the rebuilding process?

Thanks a lot for the assistance! :)

Well we were the second worst team in the NHL last season and we traded away our draft pick, as well as our draft pick for the next season. However, we should not be the second worst team this seaosn due to our mid season trades last year, but it is unlikely that we make the playoffs.

I'm a bit more of an optimist and I wouldn't say that the playofffs are unlikely, but 50/50 we make it. This team could play really well and sneak in or this could be like any other year and the season is over in December.

still missing four front-line offensive players.
After Kessel, there is garbage.
Kadri will get his bell rung 10 games into the season (weighs 155 lbs!).
who else will score? Clark MacArthur?

Kadri said he's pushing 190 pounds. Of course that's from him, but I doubt he'd make that figure up totally.

Yes, Kadri has been hitting the weights and the snack bar. He should be ready for the next level.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

he better get rid of the habit of holding onto the puck for too long.

would any other team salivate at the prospects of having your top 6 forwards being:

Kessel
Versteeg
Bozak
Kadri
....hell, i can't even round out the top 6. who would be the 1st and second line?
when people are talking about the playoffs, don't talk about how great the 3rd and 4th lines are. the first 2 lines are so sad talent-wise. i'm tempted to say that the Leafs still have the most talentless top 6 forwards in the league.
