I think people are overestimating what DD & Weems will do

As much as I'd like them to really take off and flourish next season (or the next) I just don't see it happening. I think some people on the board view have them pinned as the next VC/T-mac combo but I don't think they'll ever be anything close to that.

Demar 09-10: 8.6 Ppg, 2.9 Rebs & .7 Ast (~21 mins per game)
Weems 09-10: 7.4 Ppg, 2.8 Rebs & 1.5 Ast (~20 mins per game)

IMO I think Kleiza and Barbosa will bring more to the table then Weems & DD this season.

Demar Derozan

Anyone who has watched Raptors games knows there is one absolutely large flaw in Demar's game that will prevent him from taking that "next step" until he corrects it. I am not talking about his shooting ability, although it is good to see he has been working on it this summer, it is his handles. Demar has the dribbling ability of about a 9th grader who's been playing basketball for 3 years. You can't expect Demar to beat players off the dribble if he can't handle the ball and create his own shot. Demar rarely scores off an iso situation where he creates his own shot. The majority of the time he was scoring after being left wide open for a jumper, receiving dump off passes while he was cutting to the net, or finishing on the fastbreak.

Sonny Weems

Sonny actually has a more complete game than Demar and will likely contribute more than Demar this season. Although his game is more complete, like Derozan he does not score the majority of his points by creating his own shot. Until he too can create his own shot he won't be much of a factor on offense.

Raptors "Young Gunz" remind me of the Clippers of early 2000's with Darius Miles, Maggette, Odom, Q-Rich, etc and we all know how that turned out. Weems & Demar, if anything, are the second coming of Ricky Davis & Darius Miles

"I THINK" we're gonna have to wait and see. The stats your bringing up are from last year, when we had a totally different team, and a different system. We can't really presume anything, all we know is that they are still young and athletic, and are willing to get better.
