Serbia is bringing pretty much the same young squad that got silver at the EuroBasket, after a year of maturity I expected the team to be even better and to cause even more shocks than last year.

Well there will be some changes, and with guys maturing upgrade besides SG position. Tripkovic injured, whille Tepic didn't have much playing time last season. That could be some problem, but Duda will work that out

Hmmm... I'd like this to be true, obviously, but I'm afraid that our 2009 success was largely due to the element of surprise... nobody is going to sleep on Serbia this time. I also hope that all this talk about Ivkovic stepping down after Turkey doesn't have a negative influence on our young players. If they show they're able to cope with the pressure, we can have a nice result again. Personally, I'd even be happy with a quarter-final...

All the big teams are weakened, we have a great chance.

Colangelo called all of the 2008 Olympians not playing "yesterday's news.'' Among the other two, Jason Kidd (retired) and Michael Redd (knee injury) previously had been ruled out and weren't on the roster.

In addition to Rondo and the Lopez twins, others confirmed to be at the training camp in Las Vegas are Kevin Durant, who has been guaranteed a roster spot, Amar'e Stoudemire and Chauncey Billups, both all but locks, LaMarcus Aldridge, Stephen Curry, Tyreke Evans, Rudy Gay, Eric Gordon, Danny Granger, Jeff Green, Andre Iguodala, Al Jefferson, David Lee, Kevin Love, O.J. Mayo, Lamar Odom, Derrick Rose, Gerald Wallace and Russell Westbrook.

Anyways, it's looking like 2010 will be more of a scouting camp for NBA teams than a world tournament.

On Tomic- I think he's of the more offensively skilled post players in Europe right now. Definitely has some tricks around the basket. Needs to get nastier and more aggressive. I'm not sure why Croatia ditched their whole veteran frontcourt. Recently watched some of their archived games from last year’s Eurobasket. Those guys were very effective.

Other than the US and Spain, I think the most completive teams are going to be Serbia, Turkey, Puerto Rico, Brazil and Greece. Would have included Slovenia if Erazem Lorberk were suiting up. As of right now it doesn't look like Russsia will have their top guys.

Team USA squad I'd like to see in Turkey

Billups, Rondo, Curry
Iguadala
Durant, Rudy Gay, Danny Granger, Gerald Wallace
Lamar Odom, Kevin Love
Tyson Chandler, Amare Stoudamire

France will be good.

Beaubois / Bokolo
De Colo / Diot
Batum / F. Pietrus / Gelabale
Diaw / Ajinca (or Seraphin)
Noah / Traore / Mahnmi

I'd like to know why Josh Smith never received an invite to Team USA camp. Seems to me that he could provide a great defensive lift to the frontcourt. That's an area that worries me.

Same for Ajinca but that won't be because is team prevented him ffrom playing

Diot is questionable as he is recovering from a back injury

Greek preselection

Dimitris Diamantidis(Panathinaikos BC)
Vasilis Spanoulis(Olympiakos BC)
Kostas Tsartsaris(Panathinaikos BC)
Antonis Fotsis(Panathinaikos BC)
Nick Calathes(Panathinaikos BC)
Stratos Perperoglou(Panathinaikos BC)
Giorgos Printezis(Unicaja Malaga)
Sofoklis Schortsianitis(?)
Giannis Bourousis(Olympiakos BC)
Loukas Mavrokefalidis(Olympiakos BC)
Panagiotis Vasilopoulos(Olympiakos BC)
Kostas Papanikolaou(Olympiakos BC)
Nikos Zisis(Siena)
Kostas Vasiliadis(Xacobeo)
Kostas Kaimakoglou(Panathinaikos BC)
Ian Vougioukas(Panathinaikos BC)
Nikos Pappas(Kolossos Rhodes)

Now for me it's a good thing Papaloukas didn't go.Sure he is one of the best passers in Europe but he has gotten older and slower. There is no way he could ever mark players like Rose or Rubio.Spanoulis and Diamantidis can do a much better job especially Diamantidis who is a great defender

I would also like to see our 3 young guys get some playing time.I don't know whether Pappas,Papanikolaou(both played great in the latest U-20 European Championship that took place in Croatia) and of course Nick Calathes.

Now i believe that Kaimakoglou,Vasiliadis and Mavrokefalidis will be the first 3 cuts...Then we need two to go...I would really like Fotsis to get cut because he is so indifferent but it's not gonna happen...After those 3 there will be probably one youngster cut but i really don't know

Anyway i like our chances. We are one of the best teams in Europe no matter what and we have high hopes...

I disagree that Vasiliadis will be cut, I think he'll be an important player for this team. Kaimakoglou likely has a better chance of making it than Papanikalao and Pappas, IMO.

You guys should post in this thread...lots of discussion about the WC here.

French camp has started, still no sign of Noah. Word is he won't come before the Bulls extend him, french staff is very pessimistic to get him for the Worlds.

Ajinca's father just died, so he also left camp, and might not come back.

Finally Ali Traore is injured.

Only big left is Mahinmi. Looks like France is out.

Thursday, Noah is officially out. Friday, Beaubois suffers a foot fracture. An earthquake should be expected right where french camp is anyday now. If I was the Blazers, I would ask Batum to come back to Portland right away before something horrible suddenly happens to him. At this point France would hardly miss him anyway.

Watching a warm-up game between Argentina and Lebanon, and I noticed that former NBA players Jackson Vroman and Matt Freije are gonna play in the WC with Lebanon. The Lebanon team doesn't look that good, Argentina is having a comfortable lead despite not playing up to their potential.

I'm watching Spain-New Zealand and this guy Thomas Abercrombie really looked good today. Any opinions on him? I personally feel that his game probably does not translate to the NBA, as he did not play as well at Washington St. Still, he really did a great job against one of the best teams in the world.

This is pretty much the same team that have being playing for Brazil, the only huge difference is that now they have a top head coach.

Splitter had a huge game against USA. 13 points 10 rebounds 2 steals 1 block on 50% FG. Barbosa was ok 14 points 4 boards 4 assists and 4 steals sadly only 28% FG.

USA was lucky and won by 2 points thanks to Durant Rose and Billups.

I didn't see the whole game, but it seems as though Splitter is going to have a tremendous impact in the league. Definite starter imo. Brazil really seems to be an up-and-coming world power.
