Remember Laron Profit?
He was on our 05-06 team. He was playing very well off the bench for us and he looked A LOT like Kobe on the court. A lot of people got confused and thought he was Kobe on the court.
Anyways, in the game that Kobe scored 62 points on the Mavs in 3 quarters, Kobe was taken out of the 4th and Profit was reinserted. This caused a lot of controversy because Phil Jackson didn't let Kobe go for the records.
Profit then injured his leg and had surgery and was never the same again.
Nowadays, whenever I think of Kobe's 62 outburst, I think of what happened to Profit because Phil took Kobe out. In a way, it was the right move from Phil because it could have been Kobe. Then again, I feel pretty sorry for Profit.

Re: Remember Jumaine Jones?
Random post....
I do remember Jones, but I remember him more for his days at Georgia than for his NBA days. I'm not sure what you mean by he looked a "lot like Kobe on the court." Do you mean physically, or his gameplay?
I respectfully disagree, either way.

Re: Remember Laron Profit?
I actually joined the board because of Laron Profit. My first post was after the Lakers lost 5 games in a row (and I thought it was due to his injury).
I thought he was a great pickup, it's a shame what happened to him.

That reminds me of Nick the quick and sedale threatt days. It was hard to tell them apart when they were on floor together. And I think there was a 3rd guard with similar body type and bald, but can't recall who it was...
I remember loving Orlando Woolridge on our team. Our best power dunker until we got Shaq.

Re: Remember Laron Profit?
Man imagine fielding a team with all these " remember" guys ! Possibly one of the worst Laker teams formed.
And Patterns was right, it was Profit that resembled Kobe not Jones.

Re: Remember Laron Profit?
Profit was probably the best back up the Lakers gave Kobe through his entire career until this season imo.
I was really looking forward to see him return. He could have made a nice impact to our bench had he stayed with us till 2007-08

Seriously man is your IQ in the single digit range or something or are you just here to stir up a pointless argument every now and then?
All thread long people are discussing how he fell off after his injury and you come up with that?
