Yeah, I'm a little offended by that to be honest.

Relax. The sig idea came more from a play on words from an earlier campign by the Bucks fans "Fear the Deer" if you didn't know. It's not like they just now created the slogan because they want you to be afraid of homosexuals. If it had been a a video of Jennings crying it might have been a slogan saying "Fear the tears".

Try looking at the motive behind a humorous of a slogan/w.e before you start labelling it homophobic.

Sure to the people unfamiliar with the earlier slogan, "Fear the Deer" it can be offensive. But after they realize the joke behind it, they should see that there's clearly no offense meant to the homosexual community rather it's just a play on words to fear their star player who is being labelled a "queer".

Well the word N***** isn't as approriate as queer is in todays society. The word queer is used all the time by homosexuals themselves and in the media by non-homosexuals and is accepted. There really isn't much controversey surrounding the word itself. So no it wouldn't be the same.

In my opinion the race issue is much more conterversial and deep that you can't compare sexual orientation to it. There have been wars, genocides, and countless acts of inhumanity because of racism.

The struggle for sexual orientation could be more closely compared to the opression of women but even then I would say it ranks below that. And its evident that in both cases the comfortability of making jokes about them is commonplace even amongst the homosexuals and women. Not nessecarily saying this should enable the discrimination or any serious defamation of these peoples, but that to condemn any sort of humor towards the subject is an overreaction.

Dude, gays were sent to concentration camps in Nazi Germany just like the Jews and the Roma. In many countries around the word, being openly gay is still a death sentence. Don't talk to me about degree of severity. This sort of "harmless" humor is always, always a slippery slope.

Just because it rhymes doesn't mean it's not homophobic. Like OvertimeNO said, if someone started a sig called "Fear the N*****" the board would shut down and the user would be banned.

All forms of discrimination should be closely monitored on this board, because quite frankly, there are tons of kids who don't understand the isolation and real effects things like these have on people.

I get it, I get it. The joke is that "queer" rhymes with "deer" and that's why it isn't homophobic. And it's funny because he resembles a gay stereotype in the referenced video. And gay people are funny.

What if there was a non-offensive term for black people that rhymes with deer? And they put up a picture of BJ eating fried chicken on the sig? Would that be okay too?
