Thats not the point of why i brought up Hip Hop forums. It was to point out how this video isnt just being discussed on realgm like Chuck suggested.

I know, and I agree with you. **** is everywhere. I'm just saying I'm not sure if the people who comment on those blogs are really representative of any market. It's just dark side personas who love to hate and can't wait for the next target.

That is exactly what my point was. Who gives a damn if some anonymous 12 year old pre-pubescent little **** wants to talk crap about BJ on the internet?

So it's about numbers, then? There is a certain threshold at which enough people think you've made an ass out of yourself that it becomes relevant? To my mind, a million offended people means there happen to be a million people who don't get the joke.

We're the ones having the discussion, bdub, and we both think it's no big deal. Why care what the mob thinks? They also went to see 'Vampires Suck.' And I mean in the actual theater, not in a plane or during a hostage situation.

To my mind, the more repellent part of the response is the ex/implicit homophobia. Too many men feel like they have to use gay as a pejorative in order to assert their own straightness. It's getting better with each generation, though we need to speak up.

So to say what he did was "bad" for his image is to in part condone the reaction of his critics. They shouldn't get a pass.

Ohh this is spot on without a doubt. My point is real simple, this video reflects poorly on him because alot of people are seeing this and assuming things that may or may not be true about him. Its unfortunate that we have to cater to backwards thinking, and maybe youre right, we shouldnt.

But make no mistake about it, tons of people are seeing this video and judging Brandon harshly for it. That is my only point here. If people "dont care" about that, then dont care.. But lets not try to act like its just a small handfull of people that have seen this, like chuck was saying earlier.

Case and point, Big Baby Davis...He took a picture of himself on his stomach kissing the trophy a couple years ago. Looked a bit feminine, i personaly didnt assume anything but boy alot of other people did ( probablly including this forum ironicaly enough )...A few weeks ago he made a video of himself dancing... and well, he was hit pretty hard for that too. Including famous people moching him publicly...

SO its easy to assume that Big Baby probablly could of did without the photo and the video...Unless, he enjoys being moched... The same could be said for Brandon Jennings now, he is being mocked and most likely it will get worse...

If someone like LeBron did this video I wouldn't really care either. I see nothing wrong with this video. None whatsoever. Boo hoo, people will call him gay. The people who criticize him regarding this video either:

1. Are out to stir up controversy
2. Are super paranoid about homosexuality
3. Don't get that he's just joking around.

He may have done things in the past worthy of being criticized but that doesn't mean he should be criticized for something harmless like this.

I agree with this...They love to hate and really go out of their way. AS easy as one can say Brandon looks a bit .... ( yeah ) ...i could say hes just enjoying himself and clowning around. The idea is, very few people give someone the benifte of the doubt....

Im not trying to be arguementative, but they are representive of Brandons market without a doubt. The hip hop community is a big part of his fan base. When they start labeling him the next "Amechi " ( which ive read) then its just not a good look for Brandon at all...I wish these people were a bit less critical, but ive thought that of this forum as well so w/e.

Im not a conformist, i actually hate conformists. But fight causes Brandon. This isnt a good cause..If youre going to buck the order of things, do it and make a statement ....dont tarnish your image just for the hell of it....

Raptor thread about this got shut down because they had discussions about Stopshere's sig and how "derogatory" it is.

Wow, I got the idea from seeing some of the first reactions to the video where they were like, "OMG, BJ is a poof, how will I ever be able to watch and respect him again?!?!?!" So, I thought they should (and did) literally fear the queer.

However, I did realise it might be offensive to some who wouldn't get the deer/queer pun but to be honest I was more worried about it just compounding and re-inforcing the negative attention he was already drawing to himself. That's why I wrote, "BJ doesn't deserve this but he did put himself in the frame" when I posted it.

Funny thing is no-one on that Raptors thread actually questioned BJ's parodying an effeminate man or, if you want to be more extreme, mocking a gay man.
Luckily, for the revenue department of the government, speed doesn't kill.

Sometimes words are (wrongly, imo) perceived as offensive regardless of context. This was an example of that. Personally, I thought it was hilarious and I understood the intent to mock the reaction instead of gay people in general. And then you can get people laughing for the wrong reasons, which was what Dave Chappelle cited as a motivation to stop doing his show. Jokes involving race/sexuality are a tricky business.
