OT: Hamed Haddadi
What do you guys think about Hamed Haddadi?
After three games at the Worlds, he's leading in blocks and rebounds. I remember during the Olympics he also lead in rebounds and was up there in blocks... which is very impressive considering the players that participated in that tournament. So far this summer he's been playing extremely well and I'm curious to see if he can keep it up today against team USA.
I wonder if he's on BC's radar at all? He could be a solid pickup and an amazing backup centre behind Bargs. I imagine he wouldn't be too expensive since he's not getting any pt in Memphis behind Gasol and Thabeet, even though I'd argue that he's leaps and bounds ahead of Thabeet at this stage in his career.
Thoughts?

I feel like we've had more threads about this guy on our board than the Memphis Grizzlies board has in total.
Seriously, why do we keep bringing this scrub up?

Let's see how this scrub fares against a stacked Ameeican team today. When he's given playtime he doesn't look like a scrub at all. He's the only reason iran is in this tournament and the only reason they made it to the olympics.
But it's true, he's very slow and foul prone. He needs to adjust his game for the NBA

No, he's not that good but want to demand playing time and money. Will you played him 20 mpg and pay him 5 mil/yr?

Re: OT: Hamed Haddadi
BC was interested in him before, but I'd rather try to get Thabeet from the Grizz--it would be a better investment on a player with the potential to be a starter for us. I think Haddadi would struggle in an uptempo system, while I think Thabeet could excel playing that type of game. If we can make a smart trade to pick up Thabeet (and maybe Henry
) on the cheap, I'd do it (or else wait and see if the Grizz pick up his option--they might not if they're looking to spend on resigning Gasol, Randolph, and Mayo).
As for Haddadi, I would have preferred picking him up over Andersen (considering age and upside), but now that we have him I don't see the point--we need a starting calibre C, not more bench depth. It would have been a good move from a marketing standpoint though--he would be very popular with the Iranian population in the city (even in Memphis and Summer League he had a very dedicated following).

Re: OT: Hamed Haddadi
Don't know if he can run, as our team now, seems much more up-tempo.
But, I'm a pretty big fan of him, stuck behind an "almost" all-star in Marc Gasol and 1st-Round draft pick Thabeet. I would have like to get him in a trade over Anderson, who we picked up a few weeks ago.

Pretty much sums it up. Sure he can handle the International game, however, the athleticism of the NBA murders him. Plus he picks fouls up at a pretty quick clip also because he is getting beaten of the dribble so often.

Props to Turbo_Zone for the sig.

FYI, I believe he fouls less than Thabeet.... as per last year's summer league stats (I was following him last year) As per this past year in Memphis, he fouls slightly higher then Thabeet per 36 mins. His minutes are limited and he's kinda of rotting on their bench, has some definite skills with regards to blocking and rebounding, his speed and conditioning can always been improved upon.

I've got no idea whether BC's interested in Thabeet (or whether the Grizz have any interest in Jose) but if so, it can't hurt that Haddadi's had an impressive tournament.

We don't need another scrub that'll spend more time getting smashed at Muzik or Chival instead of practicing!!

I remember reading something Haddadi being unhappy with his playing time in Memphis...
Generally "scrubs" are just happy to be in the Association and don't moan about their role...
I'd take a chance on him...
