The jersey number would be the last thing on my mind if we managed to land Melo lol.

Because we're making threads about people who don't play for us? I hope this isn't a sign we're turning into the Knicks board. Hmmm, they have another Rubio thread.

Re: Mello
Well, Melo and his wife and their talent agency could decide to sign an extension with NYK only, but the fact remains that the Nuggets could trade him to anybody with an NBA franchise. At this point, for Denver it's about what they can get in return and that's all.

Hey I am a die hard pistons fan but I just wanna say I really like your team this year.
Webster, Flynn, Wes, Love, Beas, heck even Darko...those are some great young players who are gonna do well this year.
I really hope you guys get Melo so Rubio can come over and play with you guys it would be sick.
If you could trade for Melo n Billups that would be sick.
Billups / Flynn Traded
Wes Johnson / Ellington (Webster traded)
Melo
Love
Darko
Then Rubio comes over and Billups helps him with his transition to America.
Even if you dont get Melo I think Im gonna be a Twolve fan in addition to rooting for Detroit and the Lake Show (gotta love Kobe and the crazy man Artest)
Good luck this year

I think most here have come to the conclusion that he won't, but it's a nice thought. Personally I feel we're going to finish at the bottom one more year, and start off strong in 2011 with Johnson, Love, Rubio, and our brand spanking new 2011 pick. I've held this belief the moment Rubio decided to stay. I actually had posts hoping Rubio would stay in Spain, so we could be a stronger team in the future.
btw, gj getting a steal in Monroe. I really wish our teams could be in the same division.

The more I think about the chump, the less I care about his "zero" level of interest in MN ... he's clearly operating with an agenda and when the dust settles, NY or NJ will have him ... and CP3 ... and some other band-wagon player who wants to jump on.
Flip response to Love wanting out, "He has no reason to be upset, you're either a part of the problem or a part of the solution"

Re: Mello
We're not getting Melo. However, I could see us being involved in two ways:
1. DEN may have a hard time selling fans on a NJN deal where the big prize is a project like Derrick Favors. If we were concerned Love was going to bolt, grabbing Favors in a three-way would make some sense. It also clears minutes for Beasley and adds another high-potential player locked into a long rookie deal to fit next to Rubio in 2011.
2. While Kroenke is rich, most owners don't like spending over the lux on a team that isn't going to compete. If the Nuggets lose Melo, they will be going from one superstar down to zero .. at a time when true contenders are trying to acquire three. DEN is almost $13 mil over the lux, so getting back a big TPE could save the business close to $30 mil, if Kroenke wants a rebuilding package of youth, picks .. and cap space. I think its no coincidence a few weeks ago that their front office named us and SAC as destinations. He doesn't fit with either, but we both have the most cap room.
MIN could inject themselves in a deal like that if Kroenke wants to get a good return for their cap space. For example, JUST AN EXAMPLE we could take a player like Kevin Martin (and maybe some incentive) or Eddy Curry with greater incentive (Gallinari? AR?). I'm not advocating either deal -- I just want to show how we could be a third team to leverage our cap space to a team where it'd really pay off.
Anyway, there's not a lot to read about these days anyway, but Carmelo's ultimate destination could certainly have the Wolves' pawprints on it .. as long as we accept we won't be Melo's ultimate destination.
