actually it was 5 steals and 3 TO's.

It's unfortunate I think 2 of those TO's were right after 2 steals, and he made a sloppy pass trying to get the ball out quickly.

Iggy had a pretty amazing defensive game. I watched the whole thing, over the course of the game, the guys he was covering I think only had one basket against him. He pretty much shut Barbosa down when he was matched up against him, as well as the other SF who he covered on occasion. He was also in a lot of 'right spots' defensively to cause chaos and more than a handful of turnovers.

The put-back that he missed wasn't really an easy bucket. He got an O rebound over 3 defenders and put back a contested shot (sure he should have made it, but it wasn't a bunny like Billups blew).

Okay, all that praise for his game aside, he does look very 'off' on offense. He looks downright surprised when he gets the ball in a situation where he has to make a play. I don't remember ever seeing that when he's on our squad, but thats so not his role with Teamusa he's definitely become very uncomfortable with it. *shrug*

Iggy had a pretty good game at the defensive end of the floor. Until the last 4 minutes, where he missed two to three defensive rebound opportunity and he DID let Barbosa score the crucial basket that pulled them within two points.

Overall, the team USA pretty much just outmuscled their way to victory. And that was shown with USA's assists and TO numbers.

Nothing like guys saying well he played a good team game. Well ladies and gents, Iggy has always played a good team game and the Sixers have sucked!!!!!! Barely .500. ANd last year was just a disgrace. This team and actually the league is based on superstars and paying players what they are worth and not over spending. Sorry, but Iggy getting 3 points in a game where he is surrounded by better players should make it much easier for himself to get his. I am sure if he scored 3 points a game none of you would be happy.

If we had Kevin Durant and Rose on the sixers and Iggy only scored 3 points and played amazing team/stat stuffing b-ball I'd be thrilled. Since we don't have those guys, I really can't see Iggy only ever scoring 3 points. i don't think there is any scenario this season where Iggy only takes one shot either. (3 shots, fouled on 2, aka he got to the line on 2/3s of his possessions)

None of us would be satisfied strictly with Iggy's production if these were 6er's numbers. But he is not playing for the sixers... its Team USA. And his role is not to look for his shot its to facilitate a bunch of guys who are only looking for his shot. Without Iggy playing that role things look a lot more messy on the court.

I don't think anyone is saying Iggy is now an amazing super star or anything like that. But I think this will be a very good over all experience for him that makes him a better player under collins and beside Jrue/Turner.

If there's anything we can learn from Iggy's performance with the USA team so far, where he's playing with a talent loaded roster that asks them to just provide what they are most comfortable with. It's that being a scorer is definitely not he's natural role. He's built to play this kind of basketball where he does the little things on the offensive end then be a lock down defender on the defensive end of the floor. That explains why he doesn't seem comfortable being the team's no.1 scoring option (low FG attempts per game).

What troubles me is that I don't think that he'd be a good kick-out option from the outside even if Jrue and Turner can attract the opposing team's defense. With that said, I can't see how him and Turner can fit at the offensive end of the floor.

On the defensive end of the floor, he's not a $12M per year defensive player. He's just a good one on one defender, by NBA standards.

What we're looking at right here is Iggy's limitation as a player and what game is he most comfortable with.

As for the rest of your statement with Iggy having attitude issues that might affect Jrue/Turner, I could agree with that, but not based off of his Team USA participation.

Of course, it's sarcasm. I think after the USA experience it should be clearer that Iguodala has no attitude problems. I don't even know how people even came up with such a ridicolous thing (I guess Tim Duncan is also a real troublemaker, because he complains on the court).

I somewhat agree with the direction of what you are saying, but I think you are taking it to the extreme. I'd say it simply shows that he's willing to accept a lesser role for the good of the team. His role offensively will obviously be much bigger with our team than it is on Team USA, and he certainly doesn't seem uncomfortable having the ball in his hands when we watch him in the NBA. He's just not a volume shooter/scorer, which is what we have come to expect from a #1 option. 17-20 points is what we should expect from him next year.

Is there anywhere to listen to the game live? Computer at work sucks and won't play it and they don't seem to have it on my Sirius online radio thing, this is torture

What it really comes down to is that we grossly overspent for a player whose role on the team is going to diminish and we could easily fill that role with another player. If he had the skill have a Bruce Bowen i woul be happy. A 3 point shooter and also a great defender. BUt he is a bad shooter with decent defender skills.

He had 3 point again today. And really, with that cast of talent. He should be getting 12 points a game.

Yep just like Kevin Durant, arguably the best scorer in the NBA, scored 12 today. Do you honestly think if Coach K said "I want you to score 12 points a game", he couldn't do it? You're just another person obsessed with shooting, which he isn't very good at so he must be a bad player and a waste of money since you should only make your money based on shooting ability.

By the way, no one on the team averages 12 a game other than Durant, but they all must be bad players and bad scorers. I hope I'm just being trolled.

@ SFJ
I understand your trying to make a point about him being overpaid and there are some things I dont like about his game(he doesnt drive the ball enough, should be a better shot blocker) but I dont think using his point total's in these games are credible. Seeing as he was told to focus on defending and only shooting the ball when he is open. Yea, I would like to see him score a little more too but obviously thats not his role. Durant, Rose and Billups are all scorers first Iggy is more an all around player who can score if needed. They are all playing the roles they were told to play. Im pretty sure if Iggy was told to go out there in be a scorer he would score more but that wouldnt be beneficial to the team.

I wont even reply to the Bowen reference because thats rediculous...

Obviously you don't know who Bruce Bowen was. A top defender in this league who was instrumental to the Spurs winning year after year. He was the lock defender on all their opponents bext scorers. And shot a high percentage of 3's. So with Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner being the true future of this team. Your telling me having a guy that can defend and hit the 3 be a bad idea? Thats right lets have 2 players in Et and Iggy that are identical be on the court at the same time.
And lets pay one 12m dollars.

Bruce Bowen was a 8 time all defensive team member and had a career 3pt % of 39%. Also won 3 champoinships. Sorry but Iggy isn't and half the player he was.

I know who he is an undrafted player who made a name for himself by being a very good versatile (sometimes dirty)defender that could hit the open 3 and was a hustler for his team. Was he a good role player; yes, but he's not as talented as Iggy. He lucked up when he was signed by the Spurs playing with one of the greatest PF's of all time,in his prime and for a well coached, second most sucessful(2nd to lakers) team of the decade.
..Iggy is playing for a bad team in the wrong role as a first option , while Bowen at 30 signed with an championship caliber team and already knew what role he would play...

People upset with his statsheet production thus far clearly don't understand what Coach K and Team USA wants from Andre. Because to them, he has delivered in every aspect.

Robert Horry was a career 35% three point shooter and a 7 time NBA champion. Sorry but Durant isn't half the player he was. Logic fail.

lol... please. I've heard this sentiment before, and it's just flat out FALSE. Andre Iguodala is a much better player than Bruce Bowen ever was.

Yes, Bruce Bowen has some great defensive accolades... BUT that was his only role on the floor, and he had one of the great defensive anchors in NBA history behind him and a defensive minded coach helping his cause. Offensively he was completely useless aside from being able to hit that corner 3 when he got left wide open. Sure, he hit it at a decent rate, but he was only giving you 1 three per game. It's not as though he was some great threat from the outside. While Bruce would be sticking the opposing teams best offensive player, and doing a damn good job on nearly everyone, he was also the guy that we'd put Allen Iverson on defensively.

The gap between Iguodala and Bowen defensively is nowhere even close the gaping hole between those guys offensively and on the boards. Bowen is very good at his role as a defensive stopper, but he's extremely limited as a player.

Edit: Forgot to mention Bruce being a complete liability at the foul line.

Ah, so once Iguodala gets cut 4 times maybe he'll have the same accolades Bowen has.
