Nova had a decent start but only pitched 4 2/3 innings. Home Plate ump has been squeezing every pitcher on both squads.
Granderson is getting a ton of clutch hits recently. Pena brought his hitting shoes as well. Kearns is getting exposed playing all of the time.

85-50. Scary to think that the Rays only have 51 loses. The ground is being dug for the Roid Sux casket.

Awesome win. No Jeter or A-Rod and yet, the team stands tall against Morrow who mowed down the Yanks not too long ago.
Yanks have best record despite shaky offense and pitching rotation. Tampa will not go away though.

One thing that doesn't get talked about enough, the bullpen. What was a disaster in the first half, has become a strength. Crazy to think without Aceves and Marte' the Yanks pen has been up to the challenge. Imagine when they get those tools back along with Mosley and Nova. That way the yanks can conserve innings on the starters as they try to rest guys up for the playoffs.
Kerry Wood is an unsung hero. Perfect hero in the 7th inning.

Wood has been pretty good but his whip stinks. Whip is around 1.5 due to him giving up almost a hit and walk every inning.

That's averaging his tenure as an Indian and Yank. His WHIP is really 1.33 and his ERA is .60 as a Yank. I don't see how you can quibble especially since Joba has been much more erratic.

Vazsuck still sucks. Off to the pen you go. One scrub after another hitting moon shots off of him. Granted it's the Roid Jays. Thank god this weak throwing scrub is gone after this year. Too bad he cannot take BJ with him. It's a miracle to look at the Yankees record and realize that Javy and BJ have been sucking the whole season.

Thames saves the Yankees butt. 86-50 now and 9.5 up on the Wild Card.

Re: Jays @ Yankees
Boston is finished. They've got 9 games left vs. us and Tampa and even if they pulled off something like 8-1 they'd still need help. Without the injuries they could have kept it a lot closer, but even healthy they're still the third best team in the division. Oh well, sucks to be them.
Also, nice to finally start to get our act together vs. Toronto. This division is still totally up in the air considering we've got 7 more games vs. Tampa, but being able to fatten up on the Jays and Baltimore could help to create a little breathing room.

At this point, the pen is happy if a starter can last 4 innings and the offense can keep the team within striking distance.
Look, we all knew Vasquez was a meat head anyways. He throws hard, gets fouled off...and then thinks he can come inside and he gets rocked. This ALWAYS happens the second go round with the batting order. He's stubborn, he doesn't mix his pitches well, and he pays the price.

I might agree with you in a seven game series but with this shaky rotation and CC's dominance at home we need home field in a 5 game set.
Question...do you pitch Hughes #2 and Pettitte #3 or vice versa? And If Girardi gives AJ game #2 would you freak?

Division Winner looks to get the Rangers. Wild Card gets the Twins based on the standings.
Hughes has much better road numbers this year.
BJ, inning to inning. Soon as he gets in trouble, you yank him.

I'll say it again, Hughes pitches on the road in the playoffs. Guy flat out sucks at home.
His road to home era is 3.38 to almost 5 at home. 3 HR's given up on the road compared to 18 at home. He is absolute dog tihs at home.

Re: Jays @ Yankees
The two home runs given up had nothing to do with home field, they were up in the zone middle of the plate slop that rightfully were slammed out of the park. The second home run given up was unforgivable. Why would you pitch inside with an 0-2 count?
Hughes' arm has just logged a lot of innings...more than previous and it's a little less sharp. He'll be fine.
That still doesn't excuse the fact that Hughes' ERA was 5.52 in the month of July...and it's 4.22 in August. It's not like home runs have been flying out of Yankee stadium like they were last season.
