Re: OT | 2010 US Open
Tipsarevic gave Federer all he could handle at the US Open a couple of years back, he made a fan out of me then in what was once of the best matches I had ever seen up to that point.
Good on him. I like Roddick because Americans suck at tennis and he is actually good, but he can definitely be a tool. Will be rooting for Tipsarevic in future rounds.

Re: OT | 2010 US Open
Pam just said Sharapova needs to be back at the top of women's tennis, and I agree. Getting back into form would do a lot for the women's game IMO.
Wozniacki won today without dropping a game. I'm hoping we see the Sharapova/Wozniacki matchup.
Oudin went out, but fellow young American Beatrice Capra took out Rezai or undoubtedly IMO the upset of the tournament so far, and it might stand up to the end of this thing.
Gasquet took out Davydenko, but we all know Gasquet is a talent and Davydenko is a couple years past his prime. I wasn't too surprised to see that result, but I am a bit surprised Davy couldn't even take a set.
Fish rolled. He's the American hope.

Nice to see James Blake into the 3rd round. I'd like to see him have a few more decent results before he calls it a career.

Stakhovsky-Harrison is crazy right now. Arguably the most entertaining match of the tournament so far. Just some crazy stuff from these two.

Stakhovsky wins in a 5th set tiebreak and Harrison had three match points. Brutal way for Harrison to lose.

Lopez in a battle right now, too.
Didn't see the Harrison match - ouch, that sucks. Hope he has a good coach, because that could be pretty hard on such a young kid. Hopefully he takes it for the best.

This Mandy Minella girl facing venus is pretty hot. Gotta love the body and legs on some of these girls.

Re: OT | 2010 US Open
So did Harrison actually look good to anyone who watched. HE looked like a pretty low level talent from what I saw on the highlights, so I was wondering what it actually looked like live. U.S is in pretty dire need of young talent. EVen the guys doing well now are older late bloomers.

Yeah querry is the only young one. Doesn't seem like we have anyone right now who could really take a huge leap besides him.

Yup. I hate to talk bad about your boy Isner, but I think both he and Querrey get overrated (not ranking, but in general by media and such) just because everyone is grasping for American talent.
This type of discussion always evokes Donald Young talk. I bring him up because he lost in the first round...again. It's pretty bad that they don't even talk about the guy any more - four years ago he was the next John McEnroe. Talk about dropping off of a cliff. His career was handled poorly, though.

Querrey turns 23 next month. Not that it's old, but I don't see a big breakthrough coming from him. For comparison's sake, Roddick had won the US Open, been in two Wimbledon finals, and multiple other semis and quarters by this point.

Re: OT | 2010 US Open
Definitely. Some great points in here. Defense from Nadal is expected (though no less exhilarating), but Istomin has had some great defense as well.
Nadal's serve continues to amaze me though. And his rally to win the tiebreak was fantastic.

Re: OT | 2010 US Open
I think so much of the difference in mens tennis at this level is the composure. Obviously Nadal is far more talented, but on a good day, even the lower ranked mens players can hang with the number one for a while (up to 5-5 in a set), but then in crunch time, it seems like they always fold.
That said, Nadal played some great shots (volley, serve) to get back in that.

Denis Istomin will now attempt to strangle himself with a towel in between sets.

Nadal is a stud. That dude must get laid all the time. Oh and he is pretty good at tennis.

I thought he looked pretty good, was able to do pretty much everything. Did a nice job with the serve and volley which is what Stakhovsky was using well. He needs to work on his first serve, but that being said he had nice control of his second serve until the end. Had a lot of power and accuracy for a second serve. Came to the net a little too much in my mind, but really what impressed me about him was how quick he covered the court. He got to some shots that looked like he had no chance to get to and was there.
He needs some work, but I like his chances of making a bigger splash in the future than I do of Oudin.

He needs a lady in his box, otherwise I will continue to believe he is having sexual relations with his uncle Tony.
