DJ Mbenga & Nuggets closing in on 1yr deal

According to a Belgian newspaper, DJ Mbenga & Denver are closing in on a 1yr deal with a team option for a 2nd year.

He would be an okay signing for our 5th big. the guy is big and physical, and could help against teams like the Lakers.

If it happens I like it.

From all reports is that he's a very very good guy to have around practice. And the fact that he's a 7 footer is an addition.

Not a bad addition.

But I thought he was looking for some more playing time. Not easy with the bigs Denver has.

Depends how he goes in the preseason.

You would think that he can push out Shelden Williams for PT as KMart and Birdman will be out early.

I hope Ty doesn't rape him in practice, I'm sure they'll kid about that a lot

What bigs? The only healthy bigs Denver will have on the roster to start the season are Nene, Harrington, and Shelden Williams. At the moment he is pretty much guaranteed PT, at least more than the 3.5 mp82 he got last year with the Lakers. And if he outplays Williams, he could see 15-20 mpg at first. If he can't outplay Williams, then his life sucks anyway.

I ain't talking about the start of the season. I'm talking about the whole thing, including playoffs.
He can surprise me, but when all four of them are healthy (off course not Sheldon), I see little PT for him.

According to Chris Dempsey's twitter the DJ deal has yet to happen. Just saying. I knew the source was iffy and the fact that DJ was reportedly already signed by La (which was obviously wrong). So there's a chance he doesn't become a Nugget
