Defensive lineman Jarron Gilbert, a third-round pick of the Bears and their top selection in the 2009 draft, told the Tribune he was released Saturday morning.

Gilbert was caught in numbers and may have lost out to close friend Henry Melton, a fourth-round pick in 2009 who secured a spot with strong special-teams play and a high motor.

I dont care what happens this season I feel Angelo has sealed his ticket out of town .

Also cut Afalava from the same draft. Throw in Beekman from a year earlier and Angelo has proven inept in the middle rounds and we already knew he stunk in the early rounds. These lost picks are going to hurt us for the next 4-6 years.
