All we need is a power forward

Post#1 » by Juicy Juice » Sat Sep 4, 2010 6:53 pm

Literally every position is stacked on our team.

Nash and Dragic at the 1
J-Rich and Childress at the 2
Dudley, Turk, and Hill at the 3 (with Clark possibly becoming something good in the near future)
Lopez and Frye at the 5

Warrick is nothing but a good back up. We need to search hard and try to find a 4 to make us contenders once again.

Options:
Zach Randolph (It's Grizzlies, it could happen. He'd be a great fit next to Lopez)
Jason Thompson (With Dalembert, Landry, and now Cousins there in Sac Town, Thompsons minutes will drastically decrease. He could become a decent PF in our system)
Troy Murphy (I'm almost 100% sure the Nets are looking at Favors becoming their starting PF either mid-season this year, or beginning of the season next year)

So we're not completely out of options. Either of those 3 would be good for us. I say whichever comes cheaper, we go for it.

The problem is...we have to trade for them. And trading for them would mean giving up a quality player, making our team less "stacked"

Can we get Thompson for Dudley + Clark?

Duds is probably the only player w/ value that we could trade without messing up our rotation (Hill won't get us any of those players. If we trade J-Rich, one of our SFs will have to play SG). I love Duds and his videos though.

All the Suns need with this roster is a top PF to be contenders. However the truth is there's no movable pieces which will get us a top PF. The best chances we had were retaining Amare, or trading Ben Wallaces, or Shaq's expiring for someone like Okafor or Camby but that ship has sailed. The only movable piece at this point would be Jrich but I'm not sure he would bring back enough talent to warrant to make up for his depature...

Three team trade involving Suns, Blazers, and Sixers.

Phoenix adds: LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Fernandez

Portland adds: Andre Iguadala, Elton Brand, Spencer Hawes

Philly adds: Jason Richardson, Greg Oden, Earl Clark, Joel Pryzbilla, 1st Round Pick (Suns)

Suns get a PF who should be able to fit the system and a versatile (whiny) shooting guard. Philly gets a youth movement who can now build around Holiday, Turner, Clark?, Speights, Oden while getting rid of long term contracts. Portland gets three really good players, who should fit their slow style of play.
Suns roster:
Nash/Dragic
Childress/Rudy
Hedo/Hill/Dudley
Aldridge/Warrick
Lopez/Frye

Blazers roster:
Miller/Bayless
Roy/Mathews
Iggy/Batum
Brand/
Camby/Hawes

Obviously I didn't put much thought into this, and just thought it would be a fun trade, lol.

Then we could assume Philly buys out J-Rich to re-sign with the Suns later. Possibly Pryzbilla too, but I'm unsure if he would take a buy-out when he knows he won't be seeing that type of money anymore...

+1

JRich is too big a part of our team. Can't think of any realistic trades that would get us a PF who will be as much of an impact as JRich is for us.

Dudley is my 2nd fave player on the team behind Nash now, but given that Hedo and J-Chill have been signed, now might the right time to move him while his value is high. His playtime will go down quite a bit as the roster is now.

Need a young talented PF, throw in Clark with Dudley if needed to match salaries.

76ers need 3 point shooting and could really use a guy like Dudley next to Iggy and Holiday, so Thad Young or Speights would be good PF targets for us.
Thompson, Hawes, Jeff Green would be usefull as well, or Clark for Brandan Wright sraight up if the salaries match...

Anthony Randolph is the ideal PF for this team IMO...

I wonder if New York would be willing to trade him to us, what would be a fair offer..?

No Randolph?!?

trade J-Rich and Earl Clark

for

Eddy Curry, and Anthony Randolph.

Then trade Duds for Rudy.

Nash/Drago
Childress/Rudy
Hedo/Hill
Randolph/Warrick
Lopez/Frye

That's a team I feel can upset a lot of so called contenders.

Why the heck would we trade Dudley for Rudy?

Dudley is a better defender
Dudley is a better shooter
Dudley is a smarter player
Rudy is a moody foreigner that is homesick. That trade makes us worse.

Earl Clark and a protected pick for Jason Thompson

no to Dudley for Rudy

Rudy is a quitter and plays zero defense, he's the last thing we need

Well since the 3-way between POR/IND/NY fell through, maybe we could jump into it.

PHX IN - Anthony Randolph, Ronnie Turiaff
PHX OUT - Channing Frye, 2011 1st

NYK IN - Channing Frye, Rudy Fernandez
NYK OUT - Anthony Randolph, Ronnie Turiaff

POR IN - PHX 2011 1st
POR OUT - Rudy Fernandez

POR gets the 1st round pick that they require for Rudy.

NYK gives up Randolph for Rudy because they also upgrade their C position. Frye would be D'antonis perfect starting C.

PHX gets their starting PF in Randolph and trades in their un-conventional C (Frye) for a more conventional one (Turiaff) that can rebound and block shots.

Nash/Dragic
Jrich/Childress/Janning
Turk/Hill/Dudley
Randolph/Warrick/Lawal
Lopez/Turriaf/Jones

Felton/Azabukie/Gallo/Amare/Frye

**EDIT - I guess Frye cant be traded till DEC.15th

I don't think Frye is going anywhere. They just signed him.

I dont care. If trading Frye nets us AR and a usable C like Turiaff, they would have to do it.
