More Blue Jays games on TV next season

Post#1 » by LittleOzzy » Sat Sep 4, 2010 10:29 pm

“To be very frank, we’re very happy where we’re going with this,” Blue Jays team president Paul Beeston said. “We want to get 162 games on [television], we have 162 games and it’s been made available to every one of the cable companies. The fact that they haven’t chosen to pick up on the offer, we really can’t do anything about it.

Beeston points to expanded Blue Jays coverage, the addition of exhibition games and having a place to put games that would otherwise be pre-empted by other programming — such as regional hockey or national basketball broadcasts — as reasons why Sportsnet ONE is essential.

“For the short-term pain, it’s a long-term win for the baseball fan,” said Beeston.

Another negative article about Rogers and Sportsnet One, but it's awesome to know next season that every game will be available plus exhibition games.

162 + games will be amazing.

I think they should have just had a Jays TV channel and then also picked up some Dunedin, New Hampshire & Las Vegas games, regular daily features & then the odd untelivised games.

lol you might as well tell them to broadcast their practices, locker room activity, and have a 24-hour airing of Alex Anthopoulos' life.

162 games, PLUS. And I'm not talking about exhibition baby.

It's a nice thought but I can't imagine how poorly the ratings would be for something like a New Hampshire game.

Making every Jays games available makes sense, but anything else would just be throwing away money.

TFC for example averages between 45,000 and 75,000 people watching, a New Hampshire baseball game wouldn't crack 5K.

I can't believe anyone actually wants JaysTV to exist. Sure if it were good, but look at RapsTV and LeafsTV, those channels are ridonkulous. Now, if those channels carried every game and became the channel to have if you liked the team and had lots of unique programming and games from around the league and replays... basically a one-stop-shop for a TO baseball fan, then I'd be hugely in favour, but the channel has no hope of being that, not for years and years anyway.

I'd rather not drop another 2.50 or 5 bucks or whatever it is in the sports package to grab another totally useless channel that I have to scroll through when I'm trying to find the game just in case it's the night one of 8 games the whole year are shown there. That goes for sportsnetOne too, but please no JaysTV, those specialty team channels are a pure gauge.
