This Jets D with Revis is still not what the 2000 Ravens defense was. The Jets going to the superbowl will still be in the hands of Mark Sanchez. They also had to make a lot of key cuts to key players to keep Revis happy. Tony Richardson is probably the best blocking fullback in the league. That new guy just hits hard but does not have the football IQ that Tony Richardson has.

Your right, it will be better. While eternal sack studs such as Rob Burnett and Peter Boulware are once in a lifetime talents, I'll take Taylor/Thomas/Harris and Pace in a couple weeks over them.

Trich WAS the best blocking back circa 2006, no longer try watching the game or reading some scouting reports.

Yes...cutting 49-53 guys are KEY CUTS.... LOL you must be a Gints fan

Trich is still a team leader and key piece to the puzzle. I hope the Bengals don't scoop him.

He's signing with Jets after week 1 when his contract is not guaranteed.
Also backup FB's aren't key pieces to the puzzle.

Not all Jets fans are this dumb. Please ignore this post before this thread goes really bad. 2000 Ravens defense had the greatest defensive back ever, a prime shut down corner, and possibly the greatest MLB of the modern era. The Jets only have the shut down corner.

My statement earlier in the thread comparing Dilfer to Sanchez is just showing you don't have to have a good QB to win if you have the best defense in the league. The Jets defense will never be better than the 2000 Ravens defense, it just doesn't have the talent. All it has to be is the best in the league, and a little better than it was last year and we can overcome Sanchez and win games.
RIP Jared Jeffries. Gone but never forgotten...2006-2012

It's his leadership that makes him important to the team. Can't just throw a bunch of talent on the field and expect it work... look at the marbury knicks. You need veterans like him in the locker room and the players care about him.

Chris McAlister? Rod was a safety past his prime.

If you think talent was their main factor your totally off base...Tony Siragusa didn't call them the "No name defense" for no reason. Kris Jenkins is more talented than Sam Adams, etc.

Your right guys like Mangold, Woody and Dbrick aren't leaders, hell this washed up LT cat is no leader.

Sanchez is the de facto leader, just like how it should be for an offense.

Yeah they do.

Harris, Edwards, Holmes and Cro will all be FA's after this season. Giving Revis 15 mil is going to derail a few pieces coming back.

I think Harris and Holmes comeback.....Kyle Wilson should be ready by next year to be the No. 2 CB(One of the toughest jobs in the NFL considering who No.1 is). We could draft a WR next year in like round 4 to try and replace Edwards as the No.3 on the team unless Patrick Turner finds the light as a member of Gang Green.

Yeah but he has TALENT. Sanchez has a make or break year coming up, and honestly, he hasn't shown anything too great...including this preseason. The Jets made it pretty far on just their defense and running game, but Sanchez is gonna have to make some plays for them to make it all the way this year. Now I'm not saying he cant do it, but he's going to have to deliver to the hype...which there is a lot of.

Sanchez has talent too and did something most rookies don't usually do.....this despite having played just 1 full year of college football compared to Eli's 4 year stint at Ole Miss. Gotta remember that not only is Sanchez getting accustomed to the NFL but also as to being a full time starter at QB as well.

One of the best football news in jets history

Time for Sanchez to step up and lead this team.

T-Rich is no longer the offense leader and now mark needs to take over and be the next Joe Namath of the Jets

RutgersBJJ wrote:Hopefully he has been doing conditioning as his own. He is a top 5 player in the league, no reason not to pay him as one. If only we had a QB who wasn't garbage and couldn't beat out John David Booty at USC. But all Sanchez has to be is Trent Dilfer and we can win a Super Bowl.

They went 9-7 last year. Nice run in the playoffs, we'll see.
