So the Yanks are giving a minor league start for Pettitte on Thurs. Never has so much care placed on a million dollar groin. Yes, I get it...the Yanks are depending completely on him with AJ and Vasquez playing their way out of the rotation...Hughes starting to show fatique...and CC carrying the whole load.
However, keep in mind that the Yanks have 7 games against the Rays left. They haven't won the division yet...and seeing the Yanks home record, I wouldn't roll the dice if they have to go to Texas.
It also bothers me that the Yanks go from he could start Sunday to minor league start on Thurs. I mean, you can only be careful so much...and when he comes up he's going to have to either fight off the Rays or an opponent even more dangerous in the playoffs...so I think it's really bad to gamble. Find out now, start him against the O's so you can see what kind of stuff he's got before throwing him to the dogs...

So you are ok with punting games against the Orioles and Blue Jays but babying Andy is not ok?
Andy is important for October.

Pitching against the Os is a better barometer to his progress than pitching a couple innings in the minors.
Andy is important in October but he needs to get the rust out...

All I have to say is WOW.
Lets just throw him back in the fire after not having faced a live batter in over a month, that's just a smart idea. Andy has the stuff, he's going down to Trenton to build up his pitch count in a less-stressful environment where he can work on **** and not have to worry about the W-L.
There is no babying, he's a 38 yr old man who needs to make a rehab start. People like yourself, who have no knowledge of the game of baseball is what makes us true yankee fans look bad.

Groin pulls are tricky business and very easy to reinjure. Give him all the time in the world and all the minor league adjustment time we need to treat it gingerly and make sure he's back 100%. Let the starters go out and try to work their problems out on the major league level while Andy gets adjusted.
