Shane Battier.

Post#1 » by Mount Mutombo » Wed Sep 8, 2010 12:02 am

So, Shane Battier is our new starting small forward, it's a little disappointing that the high flying Ariza was traded, but Battier is a wonderful human being and an amazing defender. Now, all I'm worried about is if he can give us some productivity on the offensive end with Scola, Yao, Martin, and Aaron Brooks shooting jump shots. Do you think he'll contribute enough on the offensive end? Or do you think he'll just be a one trick pony?

Battier's role is all but established.

He's a spot up 3 point shooter that will space the floor for the team on the offensive end.

first of all, even if he can't do a whole lot on offense, it wont hurt us. offense is not a problem for this team. sf is the only position w/ average offense, everything else is above average.

shane has been a 'one trick pony' for the most part. sometime's he'll drive in for a layup/dunk or a hook shot, but most of his shooting is from the 3pt line. its not a bad thing unless he was the 3rd or 4th option like he was w/ tmac and yao. :banghead: :banghead: :censored: :vent: :upset: :nonono: for some reason jvg fell in love w/ his hookshot lmao, understandable given his offensive retardation

our starting unit is mostly offense, and they'll get double teamed, so they need to pass it to someone. that's where shane become's a superstar. every team needs a player that can defend the perimer and spread the floor. shane is elite among those players.

Don't hate. Battier's hook is DEADLY.

Well it used to be. Nowadays we're lucky to see it once 10 game.

Battier is off limits to talk smack about. He is the quintessential professional, and like Chuckwagon, is the glue for the team, and probably the player I have respected the most in Rockets Red since Olajuwon.

He is our Kobe and Lebron stopper. And though he may never be a hall of famer, he is definately a player that deserves to be talked about for the next 50 years. I think it's time to do what I meant to do 4 years ago, and get me a Battier jersey. Easily my favourite player now, (especially because there is no Landry!)

How many games has his last shot won for us? Battier is definately the only player I have seen shut down/contain Kobe and Lebron. If he makes a few shots, then it's a bonus for us, I ust hope his defensive output continues.

When we want offense at SF, that's what Budinger is for.

Battier is the leader of this team. It just doesn't feel right with him coming off the bench. His role is defined; defend the premier premiter player and spread the floor with his 3 pt shooting. He will always have a job with Houston ala Bruce Bowen did in SA.

Battier is gonna be POTUS 2024
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

forgot to mention kobe admitted the best player to guard him is shane, and i've beleived that long before. he wont always shut kobe down, but he does it better than anyone else.

the players that should never leave this team are yao, shane, and hayes. maybe brooks if he gets better

I would like to see Shane go to law school and become commish or go into politics. Shane said it himself though, he's too much of an idealist for politics, and since Texas already has Ron Paul he'll have to go to Michigan.

Comparing Battier to Ron Paul's crazy a55 = BANNED.

Be really glad I'm not a mod.
