I don't mind it...doesn't sound like anything is guaranteed, and Ruskell said he still plans to bring in a rookie for competition. I think this is just the Seahawks trying to give themselves options.

Mare's still got a leg...he can boom kickoffs. His only issue last year was field goals over 50 yards, and that may have been a statistical aberration.

Are there any other names out there after Brown left that would have been a better choice?

I am curious what happened to Vanderjagt, but he also has a crap attitude.
