I watched about 3/4 of the game. It seemed like the Serbs just wanted to win a little more. They played hard, very focused and anytime Spain seemed to have an answer they came right back. Individually guys steped up for them, but they also played good team basketball, making the extra pass, which often resulted in an open three, whereas Spain relied too heavily on Navarro to score. Rubio was a complete no-show.
Llull played great defense on Teodosic in the 4th quarter, but the final switch might have cost them the game.

Lithuania - Argentina starts in ten minutes.
Lithuania seems like a rather tough matchup for Argentina. Scola has trouble to defend quick stretch 4's like Kleiza, who is a beast in FIBA competition. Their defense isn't very good, but they got shooters all over the place, which will make it tough for Argentina to play a zone or sag off their men to help out Scola. They don't do anything special on offense, just running (random) pick&rolls, handoffs and some Kleiza iso's. But it usually works since they space the floor well, play hard, unselfish, move the move the ball well and therefore often create high percentage shots.
Argentina seems due for a bad game and I have a feeling Lithuania will shot lights out, so I predict a Lithuanian blowout. (ha ha ha)

how is Kleiza considered a stretch 4 though? Scola is taller than him.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Due work, I got to spent very limited time on the internet over the last days.

Anyways. Lithuania destroyed Argentina 104 - 85 in the quarter final. They shot lights out, while also doing a fine job on Scola on defense, which does get reflected by Scola's unusual poor numbers: 13 points (5/16FG 3/4FT - TS% .366), 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 turnovers.

Argentina then went on to play Russia in the 'Classification Round'.
I didn't get to watch the game, but Argentina managed to win the game 73-61. Scola had 27 points (11/19FG 5/8FT - TS% .599), 6 rebounds, 0 assists, 4 turnovers and 1 steal.
Due the win Argentina then got to play Spain for the 5th place in the tournament today.
Argentina was up by 25 points at one point, but ended up winning only 86-81, after almost blowing the lead in the 2nd half.
I again only got to watch parts of the game, but Scola did his thing, finishing the game with 22 points (7/15FG 8/12FT - TS% .542), 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 turnover.

For the tournament Scola's averaged 27.1 points (FG% 56.7 FT% 79.7 TS% .630), 7.9 rebounds (2.8 ORPG, 5.1 DRPG), 1.2 assists, 0.88 steals, 0.22 blocks and 3 turnovers.
He was named to the All-tournament team (others: Durant [MVP], Turkoglu, Teodosic, Kleiza).
