Shows what I know, Soderling doesn't look the least bit bothered by the wind.

Serena is number one I think. Not that your point is diminished by that.

After the first set I thought Soderling still had a chance. But it's not going to happen.

Soderling has missed a ton of opportunities to make this match interesting and keeps s***ting the bed

"Pam has no idea what she's talking about."
Well duh.
Would have been fun to see Soderling win, but if Federer and Nadal can both make it to the final, that's the most interesting match for me. We've seen them everywhere but here. Both are playing well right now. Would love to see it again.

Did Roger say something bad? The mic cut out at a conspicuous time.

Re: OT | 2010 US Open
I was trying to figure that out as well. I can't think of what bad thing he would have said though.
Patrick just said Pam was right. I really don't even know what they were talking about because I wasn't paying full attention, but the quote is still funny.
If Rafa moves on past Verdasco, we'll have the top 3 guys in the semis, and the biggest slam threats in the field at that (with DelPo out). Should be interesting. I think it will end up being Nadal and Federer at this point, but you can't count out Djokovic with how he's looked. What I always worry about with him, though, is facing the top competition and going back into his shell. We've seen it happen...a lot.

Trying to follow along at work - Warwinka took the first set on a break and they're tied at 4 in the second. Anyone watching? Is it really windy again?

Re: OT | 2010 US Open
Just caught the end of Wawrinka-Youzhny, incredibly windy once again.

Re: OT | 2010 US Open
This match really sucked. I'm not blaming it on the wind. Wawrinka was gassed after his last match and hurt his knee in the fourth. He really couldn't put much into his ground shots, and could only rely on Youzhny to make mistakes.
It was probably one of the worst 5 set matches I've ever seen, aside from a couple good points.
Youzhny v Nadal
Federer Djokovic
Should be great. The top three are really on top of their games right now. At this point I think Federer and Nadal will make it. I think Federer will win that, as Nadal has gone away from his heavy spin game and to a more flat power game (has changed strings, is hitting differently, etc), There is an interesting article about it by Mats Wilander. Its allowed Nadal to blow through this draw, but might make him more vulnerable to Federer.
A win would lead to an interesting question:
Better year: Roger or Rafas? Each would have won two grand slams, and a tournament or two outside of that. Everyone was dogging Federer for having such an awful year, but you couldn't say it was awful if he still won two grand slams.

Re: OT | 2010 US Open
There are two more top-level Masters events left, but to this point, Nadal has won three 1000 level masters events, and made the semis at three others. Federer won one, went to two other finals (lost to Nadal in one of them), and then made some early exists at others. Nadal went through the clay season completely untouched, and after coming into the year #2 it'd be almost impossible for him to not end the year #1.
Federe's year isn't awful whether he wins the USO or not; it's just not a prime Federer year. People overreact. That said, it's going to be tough to top Rafa's year.

Flipping back and forth between this and the football game. Someone break Nadal's serve for the first time all tournament

Rafa not playing his best yet. Fortunate that Verdasco couldn't put away this first set.

Ok scratch that, Rafa is playing well and Verdasco is playing like ****. Just a horrible match from his end.

Boy, these night matches have just sucked here in the second week so far. The one awesome one was Dementieva and Stosur and no one saw it since it was on Tennis Channel

Re: OT | 2010 US Open
After the first set, Nadal was just way too good. Verdasco got discouraged and never really recovered.

Re: OT | 2010 US Open
I will say...I really want to see Nadal/Djokovic again, too, but not at the expense of Nadal/Federer in the USO final.
