Lamar Odom hopes to one-up Kobe in the yearly title tally

LO talking a lil smack to Kobe. :lol:

he has a point though.

But what if there were a way to win more than one championship in a year? What if a player was able to somehow add to the glory of being an NBA champion? It's a hard concept to fathom, unless you happened to play for an NBA title-winning team during the same year that one of the two prestigious international basketball tournaments were being played. You know, just like Lamar Odom in 2010. As he tells Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, that's the goal.

"The thought of being a world champion twice in one year is cool, you know?" Odom said in a telephone interview. "I could brag to Kobe [Bryant] and tell him this is something he doesn't got."

Odom paused before letting out a booming laugh.

Bryant was on the U.S. team that won the gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but he has never played in the world championship.

"But he's got a lot of stuff I don't," Odom said, laughing again. "He's got MVPs, helicopters."

At least he is motivated. I want to see the US finally win at the Worlds. Its been a while.

i came to the realization that lo will always be inconsistent and will only have great games every so aften. The reason why is because (imo) he just doesnt have the athleticism to get by on when hes having a bad game. Dont get me wrong Lo is a good baller and has excellent handles for a 7 footer but now and days he lost some of that quickness and its harder for him to break opponents off the dribble. Hopefully he could just find a happy medium and and start producing on a consistant basic.

w/ regards to Lamar's happy medium, he already has one. it's crashing the boards. hopefully he can add another and that is consistency in his mid range game.

As long as LO is rested and in good shape for the season. The world championships do not really matter and that is why most or all the real prime time players are not there. Hope we win it, and get LO back with out any sprains or strains.

this is a little OT to this thread since this isn't LO. this is a Pau article. looks like Pau wants to be a Slam dunk champ as well.

Pau Gasol dunks on some kid, wins new NBA fans

Gasol again turned into a quiet crowd-pleaser in Delhi, speaking softly and letting his skills do the talking. He worked with the kids on dribbling drills, showed off his pivot, Hakeem-esque fadeaway, and of course, did a variety of dunks at the DPS basketball court, including doing a "jumpman" style dunk over a hapless kid in a ‘Starbury' t-shirt!

I'm sure that kid appreciated a close whiff of Pau's crotch.

I would be really happy for LO to get the worlds championship and to have this "one up" over Kobe. The dude needs a big self esteem booster.
