A couple Nadal/Verdasco stats...

- Nadal is now 11-0 against Verdasco. He has won 25 of their 28 sets played.
- Nadal made only three unforced errors in the second set and just two in the third.

Please let it not be windy anymore, I understand that it's part of the game sometimes but I'm sick of watching the players deal with it.

Woz lost in straight sets. She still has some growing to do; she looked much weaker than she did a couple rounds ago.

Let's go Venus! :D

I think this was Venus' last chance at a major, unfortunately. Sad to see her go out. Hope she can prove me wrong in the future.

Too good from Clijsters, way too good. I make her a favorite to defend her title tomorrow night against Zvonareva.

Just looked at the schedule - Rafa playing during the Badger game. Oh well, will be able to catch what will probably be the better of the two matches then.

EDIT: Hey, I broke 15,000. Sad.

Won't be able to watch the women's final, but it's hard not to pick Clijsters. Really hoping for Nadal-Federer tomorrow, fits in perfectly after the Bears game/hilarity.

I've always liked Mikhail Youzhny, he's a warrior out there. He pretty much has no chance against Rafa.

That 3-3 game was insane. Both guys are going all out now.

Probably Djokovic's best match I have ever seen at least. Stayed composed and didn't really get caught up acting like a douche like he usually does.

Apart from his AO title that was the best I've ever seen Djokovic play. Unbelievable stuff in that 5th set. I don't know how much he's going to have left for Rafa but he certainly earned the right to find out.

OH MY GOD.

I just got home, but I knew what was happening and was going way over the speed limit on my way home to try and catch the end of it (was hoping they'd go to a breaker).

I've got it taped so I'll watch it tonight, but damn, I really wanted to see Nadal/Federer again. Playing in the final of each grand slam would have been absolutely sick. Maybe next year, but I doubt it.

As good as that would have been for men's tennis and the sport as a whole, there's a silver lining: Djokovic getting to the final to play Rafa is important for the future also. I used to really dislike Djokovic, and still am not a very big fan, but he's an extremely talented player. His mental struggles have kept him from greater things - along with Nadal and Federer I suppose - but this will renew the Nadal/Djokovic rivalry that's been laying dormant for awhile now. And that could be an important one moving forward. Of course, tennis isn't exactly the most popular sport in the world, but I feel like rivalries have kept the general public interested. People have known the big ones over time, and recently have known the Nadal/Federer one. If Djokovic can put it together and get over the hump more often, maybe he and Nadal can be the rivalry to watch in the future. The level of Nadal/Federer? Absolutely not, but it could still bring interest.

I think Djokovic getting (back) over the hump is one of the more important things for the popularity of the sport, along with Murray getting over the hump, DelPo getting healthy, and obviously some American's stepping up (which is obviously #1).

As an interesting twist, Nadal and Djokovic are quasi-friends now. I suppose some people prefer to see two guys out there who hate each other and all of that, but I think it's an interesting twist where they came from (Djoker's 'joking', alienation, etc.) vs. what they're at now (playing doubles together).

Short work in the first set. Clijsters took two breaks.

Heads-up to everyone who might not be watching: Zv could explode at any moment here. She just destroyed one of her rackets and is yelling at ball boys, I think.

Yup, pretty much.

I like Clijsters so I'm cool with her winning. It's too bad Clijsters v. Venus Williams wasn't the final.

I actually do like D-joker. Its too bad he blew up in the US open several years back b/c he is probably the most media friendly male player since the McEnroe/ Connors day. Plus I have trouble completely blaming him considering what a douchebag his Dad appears to be. My dad is the same way and I took after him for the longest time. It ain't easy getting away from that stuff.
