Deshaun Foster to Niners?

Post#1 » by HitMan52 » Mon Feb 25, 2008 10:25 pm

ESPN's John Clayton expects the 49ers to sign free agent DeShaun Foster "in the next couple of days."

San Francisco was quick to contact Foster after he was cut last Thursday. The Niners would reportedly use him as a complement to Frank Gore, but he'd be the biggest threat for carries Gore's faced since Kevan Barlow in '05.

Does Nolan and Co. think that he could fit in the 3-4?

I dont see how he could fit in as a DE or an OLB. He is a good football player with a high motor who is good against the run but he never played in our type of defense.

The top 3 suitors(CLE, SF, PIT) all play the 34 most of the time, so they must think he fits quite well. He is indeed good against the run, he could fit at DE.

I would like to have Smith anyway.

OT: Are we the only two that post on the Niner board. Because this place is dead or atleast on life support.

Maybe when the draft rolls around, more people will show.

I wish we could get a back who can hold onto the ball.

That is true because Foster led the league in fumbles but Gore is protecting the ball better.

I really dislike his game, he has a low YPC average and is a fumble machine. I guess he's not THAT bad as a backup though in a limited role.

In Carolina he was used to share time with Deangelo Williams but now he is going to be getting more like 70/30 give a take a few.

Return to San Francisco 49ers
