* No go on McFadden? Because of a surplus of running backs, including the newly re-signed Justin Fargas, Kiffin said the team likely won't pursue Arkansas star running back Darren McFadden with the No. 4 pick. Kiffin said the team's biggest need is at the defensive line, where Virginia defensive end Chris Long (the son of Raiders Hall of Famer Howie Long) and defensive tackles Glenn Dorsey of LSU and Sedrick Ellis of USC are possibilities.

"[McFadden] is a phenomenal player .... But we really don't have a big need at running back," Kiffin said.

Great, great news... I always thought bringing in Chris Long should be our #1 priority :D

The entire article also talks about possibly trading down, a good, smart option (so dont expect it)... JaMarcus' playing weight, and Javon Walker ready to take on Denver in the opener.

I cant lie; This is probably the best news I've read/heard all year! :D

Considering I believe there is a strong chance Chris Long goes #1, we'll probably have the best shot at either Glenn Dorsey or Vernon Gholston, both guys that I would LOVE to have on this team.

If Long is off the board I believe Atlanta selects Dorsey! Still some impact players to make our foundation even stronger.

1) How much pull does Kiffin actually have? I'm skeptical of anything an NFL person says about the draft and I'm doubly skeptical that Kiffin is much of an inside voice...

2) I'd love to trade the #4 to the Jets for the #6 and a later pick. The Jets can have McFadden, the Raiders can have Ellis (who I still think is every bit as good as Dorsey) and get Baker in the 2nd round. Granted, if the Raiders were inclined to do that, they'd be talking up McFadden right now...

3) Doh, I forgot about the Hall trade...
