OT - texans sign leinart

Post#1 » by bubba » Mon Sep 6, 2010 2:43 pm

The Texans have agreed to terms with quarterback Matt Leinart on a one-year deal.

He will join Matt Schaub and Dan Orlovsky as quarterbacks on the 53-man roster.

They kept a roster spot open for him. His agent, Tom Condon, confirmed the agreement this morning.

might be a good backup, maybe he needed a change of scenery. how does everyone think he'll do?

I think the only reason orlovsky is here is cause of that ridiculous contract they gave him last year.

Texans need to get rid of dan and andre davis.

after reading chron it says leinart will assume backup so danny boy will be 3rd string. andre davis is on ir with hip probs so he may not play at all this year. i was hopin to see holliday and tate do something this year but no dice.

Dan was doing good until he threw the INT and after that point he fell apart, in the preseason game against the Bucs. Dan is still here because he has all physical tools a NFL QB back needs but lacks the mental capacity. Leinart is a bust and sucks. He could do nothing with what was the best NFL Receiver tandem in the game at that time (Larry, Boldon) and was beaten out by old man Warner and the rotting corpse of Anderson. If Schaub goes down the Texans season is over. Then again most NFL teams do not have two starting quality type QBs.

Pardon my ignorance, but who?

Oh, you are talking about the sport played by people with a lower IQ than Hockey players, Foozball.

My bad.

ur an idiot...playin football requires way more knowledge than basketball...basketballs my favorite sport but football u have to kno blockin schemes for every type of d u might face when theres like 100000 different kinds of schemes and blitzes...qqb has to recognize defensive coverages immediately before or after snap and decide when someone is open in an instant recievers choose their route depending on coverages that are usually well hidden by fake blitzes and defensive backs have to be really intuitive and know wut pple r gna do before they do them

basketball while more entertaining doesnt require intelligence u jus have to be a freak athlete it helps to be smart but really u just need the intangibles to be good...ala height speed hand eye coordination and be able to shoot

JWise, while I pretty much agree with your sentiment on football strategy vs. basketball strategy, your statement does not seem to positively correlate with your statement, which makes it kinda funny.

Shaq might have been a freak athlete, but he was a damn smart basketball player.

Anyway, I care as much about this as I did last year when I heard they signed Rex Grossman. Being a Texans QB is easy.

QB instructions for the 2010 Houston Texans.

1. Look for Andre Johnson.
2. If Andre Johnson is covered by two guys act like you're looking for another target.
3. Look back at Andre Johnson.
4. If still covered move so you don't get sacked.
5. Look back at Andre Johnson.
6. If still covered find Owen Daniels.
7. If covered look for Andre Johnson
8. If still covered find Jacoby Jones.
9. If covered look for Andre Johnson.
10. If still covered look for Arian Foster.
11. If covered look for Andre Johnson.
12. If still covered the play has failed.

at the very worse, they got an upgrade at the second string qb position, and at the very best, leinart's change of team pans out for him and he starts living up to his potential

i still can't forget his rookie season when there was a game where he threw for 400+ yards! and i was thinking man this kid is ready. then warner came in and all i could think of was that well you can't help but bench leinert because warner is playing that well, back to his prime ram days. they went to the superbowl and now kurt retires. im thinking leinart finally got his chance again, he will be a beast this season sitting out all those years (ala aaron rodgers)

... so with that said, seeing him in the preseason, seeing him cut in the preseason and outplayed by cleveland brown outcast derek andersen, its quite the opposite of what i predicted. and i was excited when he signed with the texans probably because of just the name factor. i still think he has some time, i think he can bounce back. at worst, i think we have a decent back up, at best we have a trade bait (matt cassell patriot situation couple years back)

Who tried to be funny at the end of the quote here? You clearly know nothing about the game of football.
