Lets predict the season game by game.
Anyone can say 11-5 or 10-6 but lets see how everybody gets to that number
Wk 1 - At Seattle 1-0
Wk 2 - Vs. New Orleans 1-1
Wk 3 - At Kansas City 2-1
Wk 4 - At Atlanta 2-2
Wk 5 - Vs Philadelphia 3-2
Wk 6 - Vs Oakland 4-2
Wk 7 - At Carolina 5-2
Wk 8 - Vs Denver (in London) 6-2
Wk 9 - BYE
Wk 10 - Vs St. Louis 7-2
Wk 11 - Vs Tampa Bay 8-2
Wk 12 - At Arizona 9-2
Wk 13 - At Green Bay 9-3
Wk 14 - Vs. Seattle 10-3
Wk 15 - At San Diego 10-4
Wk 16 - At St. Louis 11-4
Wk 17 - Vs Arizona 12-4
I'll give myself a +/- of 2 as far as how many I may get wrong, but as I show I'm fairly optimistic

Predict Record (One Game at a Time)
Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed.

Re: Predict Record (One Game at a Time)
Wins:
@ Seattle
@ Kansas City
Oakland
@ Carolina
Denver
St Louis
Tampa Bay
Seattle
@ St Louis
Arizona
Losses:
New Orleans
@ Atlanta
Philadelphia
@ Arizona
@ Green Bay
@ San Diego
That said, I could see Frisco laying an egg against one of the lesser teams, and/or upsetting one of the better teams. In any event, I think the 49ers win the NFC West at 10-6. With a probable first round playoff exit.
The team is definitely on the rise.

Basics I agree with you, the swing game will be against San Diego, and while we might give up a loss to a team we're better than, I think we could surprise a team like Philly or Atlanta. 12-4 is just such a good record people are scared to say it but our schedule definetly makes it do-able. I predict a first round bye.

Re: Predict Record (One Game at a Time)
Were not gonna lose to an anderson-led cardinal team that lost Boldin. If we don't sweep the nfc and afc west its gonna be a huge let down. San Diego is gonna rely on Gates all year, but we have the athletic LB's and safeties to hang with him. Floyd doesnt have the speed to torch clements and our offense should be able to handle their defense. I don't see why we shouldn't beat them.
Same with Philly, I'm probably the most against Kolb out there but still, I jsut don't see whats so special about this team.
GB and NO are two games I don't expect a win in, but atlanta should be way more itneresting than last year.

Re: Predict Record (One Game at a Time)
I'm not going to predict anything after today's game, which should've been a win but ended up being a blowout. Hopefully we just got the "laying an egg" game out of the way early and we'll remained focused for the rest of the season.

Focused my ass. We could very well start the season 0-4. We're not beating the Saints, and then we have to go to a tough place in KC and Atlanta? Good luck.

Re: Predict Record (One Game at a Time)
Its amazing how much perception can change after only one game. I'm no longer confident with my 10-6, NFC West champs proclamation.
The O-line got pushed around, opened up zero running lanes, and couldn't protect at all
Alex was awful (Partially credited to the horrid O-line play)
Frank did next to nothing (mostly due to the horrid O-line play)
Crabtree was worse than invisible, he actually had a negative impact
The 2ndary routinely got beat by one of the NFL's worst receiving corps
Honestly the way I see it, there was nothing positive to take from this game.
This team has some talent but they are very, very inconsistent with their performance. They have yet to prove that they can play as a cohesive unit, and put the puzzle together on a consistent basis.
The question marks in key areas, QB, O-Line, 2ndary, continue to linger and need to start being rectified before this team takes any kind of big step.
Accuse me of overreacting, but either Frisco isn't as good as people think they are or Seattle isn't as bad as people think they are.

Re: Predict Record (One Game at a Time)
Seattle isn't very good, and if the Niners would have jumped on them early, it would have got ugly. But they had the crowd + momentum + the new coach smell and that equaled disaster for us.

Straight up: Smith looked very good at everything but luck, but the latter was so bad I wonder if he's cursed. It was almost comical.
