Westbrook isn't too shabby either. I was skeptical about him for the longest time, but he's just a beast in transition and defensively and his shooting seems to be improving.

Without looking at the stats,
Three guys that are better than I thought:
Durant: I knew he was great, but dang .. this guy is LeBron class!
Odom: dirty work
Westbrook: Energy and defense

Two guys worse than I thought:
Rudy Gay: Seemed to always shoot, jump around, and look in disbelief over calls.
Derrick Rose: He seemed like he didn't know what to do on his drives. He got outplayed by our other PG's, and I thought that was a surprise.

Two guys I would have liked to see:
Danny Granger
Kevin Love

The US team without Durant would be a mid level team in this championship.

Durant was a superstar, OK, but Westbrook was only a good player, and the Odom's work could be done for Kevin Love or many others players.

Just like Lithuania would be a mid level team without Kleiza, Turkey would be a mid level team without Turkoglu, and Spain actually was a mid level team without Pau.

http://www.foxsportsnorth.com/09/17/10/ ... olves.html

The FIBA World Basketball Championships just concluded this weekend and what a World Championship it was! The games were great; the international teams held up very well and were strong competition; the US won the whole thing playing great, unselfish basketball led by super-duper star Kevin Durant; and I was able to watch a lot of play from Wolves personnel Kevin Love, Nemanja Bjelica, and Ricky Rubio.

So by now everyone knows that the US won the Championship, and even casual basketball fans know that Kevin Durant was absurdly good. Durant was the tournament MVP, and when it mattered most in the last 3 games of medal play, he scored 100 points on 35-for-59 shooting (59 percent), and 15 of those 35 field goals were 3-pointers.

What was harder to ascertain was how Love, Bjelica and Rubio played. None of the three played a majority of minutes in any of their games and I am guessing that the casual fan did not watch every minute of every game, record and rewatch every game and comb through the stats like I did so let me offer up my opinion of what I saw from our 3 Wolves players.
