I'm boycotting the NFL.
I'll never watch another game until Darth Roger himself comes out and says DETROIT GOT SCREWED.
Seriously, this is worse than Jim Joyce... I'm NOT EVEN JOKING.

Re: Lions @ Bears - Game 1
To recap:
We lost Stafford to a shoulder injury early on. Which is just wonderful. Knowing our luck, im sure he tore the ****er right in half and his career is over
The most absurd call i have ever seen in a professional sports game occured. Using replay mind you. This wasnt a Jim Joyce split second call. Even if they followed the rule correctly, its beyond stupid.
But hey our D was outstanding. It really was. Except for the Forte screen at the end of the 2nd quarter, they looked really, really good. That 4 down goalline stand was epic.
The offense was bad though. Even with Stafford. You gotta assume it will get better but this wasnt exactly the toughest D in the league we were facing. We couldnt run the rock at all. slight concern here
Altogether, losing your star player to injury and losing the game in heartbreaking fashion just about sums up being a Lions fan

Re: Lions @ Bears - Game 1
I am still fuming. He had complete possession of the ball the entire time. He never bobbled it. Made the catch with both feet in bounds. Even fell to the ground with the ball still planted in his hand.
Unfreakinbelievable.
Stafford is out 3-6 weeks according to some Lions sources. They are waiting for MRI results but it looks like he might be out until the bye in week 7.
Defense was great. 4 forced fumbles. recovers 3 of them. Two goalline stands stuffing the bears. Not to mention not allowing the 2=pt conversion. Aaron Berry with an INT. Suh had his first career sack. They really did great, especially considering how much they were on the field in the second half.
I feel sick to my stomach. How many times can Detroit sports fans feel heartbreak on horrible calls?
Unfreakinbelievable.

What a load of **** that last call was. This is the worst kind of loss. The team kept itself in the game, and responded when it needed to. Yet we still lose?
What bull.

It is. Jim Joyce didn't cost us a valuable win (especially when this teams opportunities are limited by a 16 game schedule).

3-6 weeks of the Shaun Hill experience? Holy crap. He was decent but seriously i was so excited for Stafford.
Worst sports day ever

Other thoughts:
Anyone else concerned about Staffords durability in general. Im starting to see a trend here and its slightly (read: very) worrisome
I believe Jeff Backus is the one who got smoked by Peppers to injure Stafford and, assuming it was, when can we finally replace him. He sucks, i'm sorry he does. I know D is a draft priority with our recent struggles there but seriously we have to upgrade the line at some point to actually let our RBs run and protect our best player, yes? If we get another high draft pick, which is looking more likely, LT has to be at the top of the list there.

Re: Lions @ Bears - Game 1
Stafford will be out until the bye from what I hear.
I don't blame Shaun Hill so much for his performance today. I put the offensive ineptness on Scott Linehan's play calling. Completely vanilla and very predictable, and they played right to the strengths of the Bears D. Shaun Hill is better than that and I think we'll see it more next week.
Just a tremendous game from Kyle VDB. It's not just the 10 tackles and 4 QB pressures either, it's the football IQ that is off the freaking charts. We have not had a defender with that sort of innate sense since my man Chris Spielman.

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

Re: Lions @ Bears - Game 1
I really don't know what to say about today's game.
I have never seen that call before ever.
Not that I watch every game, I don't.
It just seems like I get all my hopes up every year for the Lions and somehow they loose.
I was jumping up and down yelling in my computer room and then I see the call!
I thought it was boxing all over again.
Stafford is fragile from what I have seen.
I got to say I thought the Defense did a great job from what I am used to seeing.

Re: Lions @ Bears - Game 1
Just watching ESPN SC and on that little side bar with the upcoming topics, they had "Winning TD Denied", which was obviously the Lions, then 5 minutes later when it was about to come on it disappeared from the list and they never mentioned it. I know sometimes they cut stories because of time, but only the least important. Hard to believe a game winning TD blown call, is of least importance. For whatever reason the National Media doesn't seem to want to talk about this one.

It might have been the Cowboys/Redskins game which was decided on the last play in which a touchdown was called back on a holding call.

Re: Lions @ Bears - Game 1
Total robbery. He had the catch, control/possession, two feet down, one football movement of a step and another football movement of a sissy looking dive; but there's no rule that football moves have to be performed with overly demonstrative manliness, and then he collided knees into the ground and did a football swim move to allow himself to establish that he had full possession from all of those moments up to that spot plus that one extra football move. The play should have been over and dead in time many instances ago at any of those junctures. I say the one step after the 2 feet is a very borderline football move and to require the player to do more is acceptable there, so the play should be dead at the moment he pushes off the ground for his dive. Freeze that spot and the play is over and anything after that is just an unorthodox TD display that doesn't matter, just like as if a guy crossed the plane on a rushing TD and then acted like the game was still on and frantically dove and fumbled and went after the ball for some silly reason. Doesn't matter what the visual looks like because that play is a dead TD once the TD requirements are met which is just breaking the plane with the ball, and in this pass play sure enough all of the ingredients of a catch and football move while having been established in the endzone were done way before that ball squirted out later.
And then our coach defends the referee when the call was in fact wrong and it costs us well basically that was like our playoff game. Win and we're in maybe, lose and well good luck ever trying to get back into the mix with your dumb luck, those were our options and we rightfully earned the better of the two and the only honorable and justifiable response is a full blown petition to the NFL to make a monumental landmark decision of overturning a game result. It may sound crazy and like a waste of time, but whether the rules allow it or not the Lions should be submitting their request by Noon tomorrow on an official Game Adjudication Form, and if such a form doesn't presently exist in the league handbook, then they need to draw that up to. Here you go NFL, you'll see my paperwork is in full accordance with the GAF form, now process this request and give us our win, we'll wait right here til it's done... or the police show up.

Re: Lions @ Bears - Game 1
Part of me thinks Jim Schwartz knows it was a damn touchdown and is trying to refrain fro being fined or suspended for going off. Another part of me is pissed for him not sticking up for his player and team even if it costs him a damn fine.
Anyone with eyes, who isn't a Bears fan or attached to the NFL (including NFL PLayer, Coaches, Officials, ESPN people) knwo it was a damn touchdown. It's like Galarragas perfect game all over again. It's like they are trying to get us to believe that we did see what we all saw. That we watched it wrong. I don't if it's amusing or disgusting how they are trying to convince fans that they aren't smart enough to know the game as they're watching it.
