Thorton is a great pick up. He is most likely the starting 3 for the wiz at least till the all-star break. Then howard may take over, the only way thorton doesn't start to start the season is if Yi starts at the 3 and that is a bad idea lol.

we aren't in a hurry, we only have 67 picks left. Even if we have an average of 2 picks a day, it will be enough. of course I have to state that our average is almost 8 picks a day right now.
so I don't see the point of 8 hours limit....
The thing is though, barring the early parts of the draft, you really haven't taken anywhere near 8 hours on any of your picks in the last few rounds. So I don't see why you'd see this as an issue.

That's what I'm hoping. If he and AK47 are starting at the wings, that means most of the offense is going to Deron and Jefferson, then Millsap. Hopefully Raja gets a bit more responsibility than jackings up 3's all game long. What I didn't realize is I've unintentionally drafted more than enough players who will allow me to win 3's most every week, leaving Raja sort of unnecessary for my team. This may be playing my hand too much, but I figured someone else might want 3's and if they do they know he's available.
I plan on being competitive enough to hang with you in 3s...

well rather than questioning why it's an issue for me, tell me a logical reason to do this.
for example if I have a specific target that I love at 208 (I don't have one right now, but still) and I get skipped and he gets picked before I can. I'll be mad. because there isn't any reason to decrease the limit to 8 hours.

You can leave a list to someone, like everyone else.

I've picked within 8 hours, yet I also wonder if reducing is necessary. We're not behind any schedule as far as I can tell. I would understand if the season was starting next week, but even training campe is over two weeks away. While some people have been frustrated at times by a lengthy wait, I don't see the justification in shortening the time period. At our current pace, we'll be done sometime next week.

Re: FFL 2010-11 - Draft times reduced to 8 hours per pick!
I think the reasoning isn't that we need to hurry up and finish as much as it's about being competitive. This has been the most competitive league on the board for some time, and if you can't make your pick within 8 hours (there are a few in this league that have been MIA already), then how active and competitive will you be when the season starts. I think that reasoning is pretty cut and dry here, and I think the 8 hour limit shouldn't be questioned as a "why" issue but as a "why not"...a super competitive league requires nothing less.
Plus, very few of us have ever faced an over 8 hour on your pick issue, so I don't see why it should be a problem.

I got skipped, no big deal, still got the player I want. I don't care either way. But I wouldn't mind finishing this up quicker.

Re: FFL 2010-11 - Draft times reduced to 8 hours per pick!
The move from 12 to 8 is merely meant to light a fire under those of us who have been taking advantage of the rules to the detriment of others. I don't think we've had a single occasion where someone was skipped after 12 hours because they simply could not get to the computer. People, by and large, just get lax in their habits of checking the board. Many of you have admitted as much. So in this regard, the shortened period should help keep everyone's attention.
Sabonis, you of all people really shouldn't be so offended by the shortened period. Just two days ago, you were here when your pick came up, but rather than make your pick so the rest of us could keep the draft moving, you elected to leave, go out, and not come back until much later (and drunk nonetheless). Your email to me said you completely ignored all things fantasy related. I don't hold a grudge over this, it's completely up to you. And I certainly don't expect our little league to take first position in anyone's life. But if you do opt to purposefully, or negligently, keep us all waiting while you go out and do other things, especially when you've had the chance to make your pick, then I see no reason why you shouldn't be skipped so that the rest of us, those who are here waiting patiently, can keep going.
Frankly, I find it difficult to conceive of any situation where an 8 hour period would ever pass you by, so long as you're paying even a very small amount of attention to the board. Even if you're going to sleep for 8 hours, it should not present a problem. If you're within a few picks when you're going to bed, leave a list. It's highly unlikely 5-6 people make a pick the minute you go to bed, leaving you with precisely 8 hours to pick. What's more likely is that they each take 1-2 hours to pick (avg I think), which means that even with a 5 person list, you probably still could pick yourself. Which mean the list itself is only precautionary, and not necessary.
The bottomline is this: if you're concerned that you'll be away for 8 hours or more, and there is a modicum of a chance that your pick will come up during that time, leave a list.

Re: FFL 2010-11 - Draft times reduced to 8 hours per pick!
I think I'm losing my mind....
I needed rebounds badly, and my list went like this:
Raja Bell
Brad Miller
Udonis Haslem
Hasheem Thabeet
Big Z
I was hoping for double MIA bigs (Haslem and Big Z) with the hopes that at least one of both would pan out, giving me one solid contributor this late. I really blew it when I took Raja (at least I got to make my little picture joke).
So now, I'm forced to take the next two best rebounders left....A guy with vertigo and a guy without a team.........
I'm in complete risk taker mode, which is why making sure I had no late picks doesn't make much sense now that I'm reaching anyways. I'm making more rookie mistakes than the Dallas Cowboys' Offensive line.

Hmmm,
I was semi planning on taking Tyler Hansboro with my 230ish pick. If he's going this early we must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel.
