Well, it really really sucks Federer didn't advance and I completely missed this match due to work. Will still watch the final, though. I hope it's interesting.

Final postponed to 3p tomorrow. This gives Djokovic more than a puncher's chance now.

I don't know why they called it so early. I think it's stupid they didn't just wait and play it when they could, but whenever. The US Open always plays night matches - I've never understood why in the past or now they've delayed the final to Monday when there's plenty of time left to play the match.

Whatever. Monday it is. I'll miss more of the match than I would have had it been today, but oh well I guess.

Id rather see it delayed, especially in a final. There have been a lot of matches where rain delays have disrupted momentum (Henman semifinals at wimbledon comes to mind). Better to just play it through when there is little to know chance of rain.

It's not a question of starting it only to stop again. They just up and cancelled the match around 5 o'clock. WTF? They started a match four days ago at 10. There's no reason to cancel a match that early. Instead, now, they'll play a match when half the U.S. (the host of the tournament and their biggest viewing audience) is working.

It's not raining there right now, it hasn't been raining, and there's no rain coming at them on the radar. They should be playing.

Yep, gotta agree, MiG. Not much they could do about last year, but the Men's Final was one of the lowest rated finals in a long, long time because it was buried on Monday afternoon. They did it again.

If they're gonna move it to Monday, make it primetime so they have some hope of getting people to watch.

I read they had a band of rain coming in that was very difficult to play around. It would be start stop the whole time. Tomorrow is supposed to be 20 percent chance of rain.

There is no rain anywhere close to NYC right now.

"I can't believe they didn't wait until 8 or 9 o'clock," Nadal said.

I'd be livid if I was Nadal. This extra time off is a huge plus for Djokovic. MIG is right, there's no reason they shouldn't be playing right now.

What sucks especially for Nadal is that in the past he has always been the one to get screwed by times. He has always seemed to be the player playing on short rest. A result of being the #2 for so long? Quite possibly; maybe that's just how the draws always worked out. Now he's #1 and has ended up in this situation where he would be the one with more rest (though in this case, it's only a couple hours) and less time on the court, but some of that is going to be negated by an extra day's rest.

Nadal has plenty of reason to be upset, because they should be playing right now. Me, I'm just pissed I don't get to watch the match live. I...you know...work. The whole thing is stupid.

He has had a ridiculously easy draw this year. Of course he is the no 1 seed, so that should be the case, but he still avoided Murray.

I'd be pissed too. With Djokovic's history of breathing problems, history of fitness problems, and coming off the fifth set match, Nadal most likely would have rolled him. I still think he will, but it will be interesting to see. Federer seemed pretty nervous going after the Grand Slam against Soderling toward the end of that match. Will be interesting to see how Nadal holds up should he get close tomorrow.

True, but it doesn't really change any of my points. With that said, his draw was typical of a 1 seed. Murray and Berdych (especially) went out earlier than expected and affected who he ended up playing in the semis, but nothing else really out of the ordinary.

Like I said, I'm just irritated I'll now miss most or all of the final because of a dumb decision.

I'm pulling for Nole today. I know he used to be a douche but he seems to have curbed that a bit. He showed a lot of heart against Roger and that's something I've been missing from him. Plus, it would be fun to get a 3rd player in the mix to challenge Roger and Rafa. Then when Del Potro comes back hopefully things will get fun.

I agree in general that it would be fun to see another player in the mix. I see Djoker in the mix, and definitely Delpo. Murray is on the cusp but needs to pick it up in slam play.

Gotta root for Rafa to get that last major though. No question about it for me.

I, of course, want Rafa to win. But I too have wanted to see other guys get into the mix. I consider DelPo in the mix when he's healthy - I just hope at this point he can fully recover. Djokovic I have considered in the mix, but I started to question that with the mental problems he was having. Yes, he made it deep in all of the slams this year and did fine on the ATP Tour, but it was mentality holding him back. I think even getting to this final is big, though. I did not expect this from him. His draw didn't end up being particularly tough, but I still would have guessed he fold somewhere along the way. Was pleasantly surprised (and at the same time endlessly displeased) that he got past Fed. Along with Murray, when everyone is healthy that rounds out the clear-cut top 5 players IMO. Murray still has mental problems of his own, though.

I'm still waiting for CIlic to show up. After nice showings at last year's USO and this year's AO, he finished the year quite pitifully to be frank. Davydenko is done challenging - he never got over the hump. Soderling will hang around for a bit but I'm not sure he'll ever actually grab a slam title. Roddick...I'm not convinced. I probably wouldn't bet on him but I suppose it could happen. I think the book is still open on Berdych. He was expected to do a lot more and never broke through until this year. It will be interesting to see if he can continue how he played during the middle part of this season. I feel like if you get to a slam final at the age of 24, you can probably do it again, but when all the other competition is healthy and playing their games, who knows.

I think DelPo is the only guy who has what it takes to actually dethrone Nadal or Federer on even a remotely regular basis (player-wise - omitting injuries and age). And he's injured.

That sucks that it is starting now. I would have really liked to watch it, but I've got an hour and a half left of work. :(

The semi-Finals match was great.

Nadal seems to be playing his old style - very loopy topspin shots that bounce really high. His shot had been flatter throughout this tournament. Djokovic started out really shaky (messing with his ankle despite seemingly moving perfectly, ditching his hat after the first game), but has recovered. I think he should be able to jump on some of those loopy balls on the forehand side if he starts hitting well.

Also, when is CBS gonna get rid of Enburg. I 've been watching online feeds which have been Luke Jensen and sidekick the whole time (Jensen is like the Bill Walton of Tennis commentating), and now I'm stuck with Enburg for this (but Mcenroe at least evens it out).
