Nadal is mixing it up well. Just smoked a flat ball winner down the line to break Djokovic, who destroyed his racquet on the ground.

Thanks for the play-by-play. Keep us posted on anything interesting. I won't be home for another hour and a half yet.

Nadal takes the first set. The last 3-4 games were just serving out by each player, with little chance of breaking. Nadal seems to be content with long rallies, trying to play corners and make Djokovic run. I think he is going to be able to hit a lot more winners once Djokovic slows down.

And it looks like it might rain in the next half hour (they say it should be a quick thunder storm)

I'm trying to listen to a radio feed....I have come to the realization that wow, tennis on the radio sucks.

You could put an online streaming site on, listen to someone like Enberg or Jensen and just minimize the window if you cant watch it at work.

Nadal is mixing up some good balls to get back in this set - slices, topspin, flat balls. He's showing a lot of emotion too. punched his racquet after missing a shot

I got home early and was pissed when I couldn't find the match, but then I saw it was suspended so hopefully that's the only reason why channel 3 in Madison cut back to news.

Gonna be on ESPN2 when it resumes.

Nice job, USTA

So much for short predicted rain delay. Wouldn't be surprised it they delayed the match yesterday simply because they wanted a competitive match today. The women's final was already bad enough.

7:30 start at the earliest (EST), and that's "optimistic" according to Ravi. They could have played the match in totality last night starting at that same time with no rain delays. It stopped raining at 7 and didn't start up again.

This delay actually serves me well, so I'm lucky I guess. CBS in my area was not broadcasting the match and sent it to their "sister station," which I don't get. So I'm lucky the finish will be on ESPN2.

I don't mind the delay as I think its kind of stupid to have back to back matches. Djokovic is basically being punished for having the harder opponent.

The USTA really needs to look at how the event is scheduled from this point on. First, it's ridiculous the final isn't even scheduled for primetime to start, you actually have hope of people watching if you put it in primetime. And because Labor Day starts the second week of the tournament, they run right into the start of the NFL season.

They should also consider building a roof. The weather in this tournament has been awful and ran pretty much the entire spectrum of weather aside from snow. Two of the majors have a roof on their main court, the US Open should follow suit.

The French is already planning their roof I believe, as they were threatening to leave Roland Garros. The problem was when they built Ashe, they wanted to make it the largest court ever, instead of building a smaller, roofed arena for the same price.

If the match is still going on at 9:15, it moves to ESPN Classic. Guess who doesn't have ESPN Classic.

What a joke this has turned into.

Nadal's last three serves to win that set were ridiculous.
