This is crazy. Sure, given equal talent, a wrestler would pwn a boxer. That said...

Mayweather is not just a pro boxer. He's friggin 41-0. You don't get there with ave. boxing skill. He's not stupid and I'm knows a thing or two about street fights.. more than CJ. And I would venture to say that Mayweather is probably more likely than CJ to have some grasp of MMA technique. Just because all we see him do on TV is box doesn't mean he's one dimensional like that. (He could be, but I wouldn't assume that.) I don't care if CJ has any high school wrestling. That's ridiculous. Honestly though, I might pay to watch Mayweather vs. JJ. Epic slaughter in JJ's favor. 20-0 in MMA, 7 world Karate titles, 9 national titles...

Read it again mate. I didn't compare anyone to a professional boxer. The guy was talking about how all CJ had to do was get him on the ground, like it would be easy. Hence why I said that for most people, it would be a lot harder than he made it out to be.

Have you ever boxed, or took any MMA classes before. I use to train at a gym when I was younger boxing and my brother has done BJJ for about 4 years now and I've done a little of that and also Muay Thai which is stand up.

There's a big difference between being in a ring with rules and actually doing MMA/ street fight. All people are saying is if Mayweather doesn't knock CJ out with his first punch there's a good chance CJ can use his size and get Floyd to the ground and negate his boxing.

I have practiced Choi Kwang Do since I was 13 (so 6 years now) and I am 6'4 235. I would get crushed by Floyd Mayweather. I am quite a big bigger than Floyd but he is a professional fighter. He is also the pinnacle of his sport (talk about Pacquiao all you want by Mayweather is now the gold slandered for boxing). Your guys argument of maybe CJ getting Floyd on the ground and having a shot because of his size is stupid. Just because he's now on the ground he doesn't know how to fight is stupid. Guys goof around all the time I am sure Floyd knows how wrestle. He's also insane I am also pretty sure Floyd has been a street fight or two.

I know where I train (I by no means took Choi Kwang Do super seriously I mostly did it for mental and physical health) I get beat by guys that are half my size. Why? Because they are professional fighters, and while I am decent they are much much better than I am because they have experience, knowledge, technique on there side. 15 pounds doesn't make a difference in a street fight or any discipline for that matter. I have seen a ton of fights even if CJ was a black belt (which is a very huge assumption because that can take a decade to get) he wouldn't have trained nearly as much as Floyd has and wouldn't have nearly the fight experience. I am sorry but from my experience there is no way CJ would win. Not even kinda.

Don't mean to rag on you personally man just I know these things and the ground and pound argument that people bring up is a incomplete argument. Because there are far more factors that go in besides size.

-CJ would probably have no chance in a fight with maybe the pound for pound best BOXER in the world.

-Floyd is crazy

-If it is a street fight and it goes to the ground (which they normally do), CJ might have a chance due to size n weight

CJ might have a chance if he were formidable in some type of grappling. My guess is CJ isn't. In that case, Mayweather would eat and destroy CJ and we'd need to find another PG. And FTR, I'd put money on Mayweather putting the hurt on James Johnson as well.

Maybe CJ did some Krav Maga while he was in the bay area (its big there). Thats a nasty martial art and its main purpose to hurt and kill your attacker by any means necessary.

For the people talking about how the Courture V Toney fight wasn't a good example all you need to do is watch the early UFC fight and you will see that Boxing is not very effective in a real fight (compared to wrestling, ju jitsu etc...)

But yes, CJ is just probably a good athlete who excels a BB and wouldn't know how to take down the Christmas lights let alone flyod mayweather jr with a double or single leg.

The thing in this thread is that people are pointing out that CJ is bigger than Mayweather, and are really overstating how much a size difference would make. When you're talking about an elite level professional boxer taking on a basketball player who as far as we know has no fighting experience, it's going to take a much bigger size advantage than the one CJ has to match up against a professional fighter. You want to put Mayweather up against an NBA player and see a relatively close fight? Start looking at the bigger SF's and up. Stop dreaming about the backup PG taking on a pro.

Actually, I just checked the stats. JJ has nearly 100 lbs and over a 1 foot of height advantage. JJ would destroy him.
