The same could be said for Gerald Wallace back when he was picked in the expansion draft. Williams already has a triple-double, Gerald's been in the league for years and has yet to obtain one. Normally I'm not a fan of younger players but Williams is damn good and trading Crash and a few others to get him would be no worse than Denver trading Melo for Derrick Favors, picks, and extras.

Bob Sura has a triple double.
Darius Miles has a triple double.

Why does that mean something?

If you're going to trade the face of the franchise he either better be making an ass of himself or the team has to be getting something of real value back. Terrence Williams does what good? I'm not in the mood for waiting 4-5 years for a guy (and gambling hard on a second contract) to see if he's going to replace someone.

Sorry - just to confirm: I wouldn't trade Crash for T.Will.

I would trade Damp and Hendo for T.Will and a TPE.

Yea, don't see Crash involved in any Dampier trade. Don't see Jax in it either, for that matter. We'll move him with someone that's becoming expendable relative to who we're bringing in...

There's more to trading someone than skills. Gerald makes 10m this year. Williams makes just over 2m. At the end of the 2013-2014 season, the QO for Williams is just over 4m dollars.

For a team trying to avoid the luxury tax, that's a substantial decrease in salary for a player that has a great chance of replicating the success of the 10m player. It's still a business and business + economy suggests that if you can replace expensive production (Crash) with cheaper but nearly as efficient production (Williams), you do it. The team's in cap hell now because we have former players running the FO instead of business-minded individuals willing to make those tough financial decisions.

@Slam - I wouldn't trade Crash for Williams straight up either, but considering Swedd's trade suggestion, it makes sense to part with Crash and replace him with Williams.

I think you're reaaally over hyping Williams to suggest he has a "great chance of replicating the success" of Crash...
