CBS had a hand in postponing the final to Monday rather than seeing it rain-delayed into primetime Sunday night, and in scheduling the final for 4 p.m., despite forecasts predicting late afternoon storms, rather than starting at noon
This pisses me off. As TV stations are paying more and more for events, you would think they would be more careful in not screwing it up, but the exact opposite happens. They feel they own the event and can do whatever they want to it, which often affects the outcome of the result, or at the very least the representation of the result.
Everyone remember Dick Enberg not wanting to let Del Potro say his 2-3 words in Spanish at the end of last year's final? That wasn't Enberg being an ass, but rather someone who knew his next show came on and needed to get his program off by 7:58. It's such a joke - I want half hour post-event coverage. Don't run away. Or make me switch channels, but at least still have it. There is no excuse not to, especially when so many channels exist now. Stations are just getting lazy, and they know they can get away with it if they set the bar low - that way they can use the post-game press conference as part of sportscenter or some BS like that.
