Trade Proposal

Post#1 » by laydo » Tue Sep 14, 2010 11:21 am

Since Dampier could being traded by the Bobcats now, how do you think about this 4 teams trade idea?
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=37zng74

IND
trade: T.J. Ford, Brandon Rush(or Dahntay Jones), Solomon Jones
get: Erick Dampier, Brandon Wright, a future 1st round pick from CHA

CHA
trade: Erick Dampier, Boris Diaw, a future 1st round pick
get: Jose Calderon, Andris Biedrins

GSW
trade: Andris Biedrins
get: Brandon Rush(or Dahntay Jones), Solomon Jones

TOR
trade: Jose Calderon
get: Boris Diaw, T.J. Ford

The Raptors unload Calderon's long contract, and Bryan Colangelo used to like Boris Diaw a lot. Ford, with his expiring contract, is not a bad back-up choice for Jarrett Jack.

The Warriors just signed Louis Amundson, that makes them too much big guys, David Lee, Amundson, Dan Gadzuric, Udoh, Brandon Wright, and Biedrins. While Biedrins' contract is too long and is unhappy about Don Nelson, and Wright doesn't have much chance to play, it's not bad for them to get a wing player and a shot blocker in exchange.

The Bobcats clearly wants to hold up in playoffs since they didn't waive Dampier's contract to save money. Both Biedrins and Calderon could be help them. Biedrins, along with Kwame Brown and Tyrus Thomas would upgrade Bobcats' in paint. Calderon, on the other hand, should give them more offensive energy. Though their contracts are long, I think Michael Jordan would take them.

As for the Pacers, first, we save plenty of money and clear up the roster by waiving Dampier's contract. Then we have the space to sign Magnum Rolle. Next, we get a young athletic power forward, Brandon Wright, who may be in the competition for the starting position. Afther we sign Rolle to the roster, there is still one spot left. We could bring back Earl Watson or Anthony Johnson as the mentor for Darren Collison. And the Pacers get a first round pick, that makes the trade looks more balance.

That make the roster like this:

C Hibbert, Foster, Rolle
PF Wright, McRoberts, Hansbrough
SF Granger, George, Posey
SG Jones(or Rush), Dunleavy, Stephenson(if he's back)
PG Collison, Price, Watson(or Anthony Johnson)

I don't know if Charlotte goes for that kind of monetary commitment while giving up a 1st.

I'd do the GSW deal and forget all the rest.

Charlotte just waived Dampier.

He can sign with anyone he wants to now. Not sure why he would choose the Pacers...or how Indiana would make room for him on the roster.

No thanks. I don't want Wright but Dampier intrigues me, but he's a free agent. I'd consider it though.

I actually like it pretty much all-around, especially for Indy. They get rid of a headache of a point guard but don't lose the 2011 salary cap flexibility. And I'd like to see Rush go instead of Dahntay because hopefully Dahntay can get his defensive presence back like he had in Denver.

I'm not a big believer in Brandon Wright because he's injury prone and even his last season he played, he averaged under 19 minutes a game. Whether or not that's because of fatigue or injury I don't know. But he'd be off the books after 2012 so if it doesn't work out, it's a somewhat quick experiment and is still playing on his rookie contract so it'd be a cheap gamble.

And I think Charlotte might take on Calderon's contract. I'm not convinced Augustin is starting point guard material.

maybe replace Hayward with Deron Williams? You have us trading our best player for somebody who has been a 6th man most of his career.

Because Granger is worth much more than Millsap. Millsap is a nice player and all, but he's simply not in Granger's league. While we like Hayward in Indy, he's simply duplicitous, considering we already drafted our SG/SF player in Paul George, and we already have Mike Dunleavy, Brandon Rush, and Dahntay Jones at the position. We all thought Hayward was worthy of a late 1st round pick, not a lotto pick.

Long story short, we hope the difference between Hansbrough (with health and a year of experience) and Millsap isn't near the gap between Granger and Hayward.

At this moment, I wouldn't come close to considering a Millsap + Hayward for Granger deal. Trading a dollar for a 50 cent piece in Millsap and a quarter in Hayward isn't exactly what we need to do right now. We need to get an ADDITIONAL good player to GO WITH Granger.
