2nd or 3rd best defensive player? You don't know much about football, do you? They didn't have Jenkins for most of last year and looked pretty damn good against the run without him last night. I don't think it's going to make or break their season. And they won't be playing the Ravens D every week, just like the Giants won't be playing the Panthers D every week.

Only Giants fans are insecure enough to go crazy after week 1.

Who said that? And the Jets lost to the Ravens 10-9 while dominating three facets of the game. The Giants beat an NFC bottom feeder with a new QB, one receiving option and a terrible defense. Don't you think Giants fans would have learned after last year that you can't make the playoffs beating terrible teams?

So what do you want? You want me to say the Giants wont make the playoffs even though they won their only game so far? I'm not the one guaranteeing playoffs after losing your first test of the season and a key defensive player.

I THINK ITS HILARIOUS that the giants beat the panthers and they think they can talk??? what a joke, neways this is a HUGE loss for us our d line was the weakest part of our team depth wise and now we really need a lot of help I have no clue what we are going to do

People need to relax. The Jets didn't have Jenkins for a good chunk of last season and lead the league in run D. They didn't have him last night and dominated run D. It sucks that they lost him AND Pitoitua but Sione Pouha proved all last year he is more than capable. I'd argue to say he's a better option than Jenkins right now.

I obviously know more about football then you. Ray Rice was running much better after Jenkins went out. You can turn a blind eye if you want, but it's true.

I'm not going crazy about the Giants at all. I just think it's ridiculous to guarantee playoffs when your team doesn't even have a win and just lost its best D Lineman.

Yea, because the Jets should really give two **** about what the Giants do, a totally irrelevant team in the Jets case because they won't play each other this year ONCE unless it's the Superbowl (Jets won't make it, Giants may not make playoffs). They had a bad offensive game against the 2nd best defense in football. THEIR defense held Rice, Housh, Boldin, Mason and Heap to 10 points and it would have been less if not for a bogus roughing the kicker penalty, then an a bogus PI call in the endzone.

Where was this so called defense when the Ravens converted critical 3rd downs? Mark Sanchez looks like a scared kitten out there, he should be benched and the Jets should place Mark Brunell as the QB if they want a legitimate shot at the playoffs. I'm sorry Jets fan but Mark Sanchez looks like a BUST and as long as he's your QB good luck winning games.

There's no way you can argue Pouhas as a better option. Jenkins is on the extremely short list of 3-4 D-linemen period. I appreciate Pouha but he's no Jenkins. What's worse, with our lack of depth the line will be depleted at the ends of games and likely at the end of the season as well. We need a quick boost to our depth chart so Pouha can at least catch breathers and not tax his body for the next 15 weeks.

homojoe jumps in on every Jets thread that he can. He even got warned for stalking on the Jets board yesterday. Dude is obviously obsessed and demented.

A blind eye? Ray Rice had 21 carries for 43 yards TOTAL. He averaged just over 2 yards per carry. Maybe he was running "better" after Jenkins went out, but if the Jets hold opposing RBs to those kinds of numbers week to week I don't think you will see too much complaining. And again, you need a football AND reading lesson because no one guaranteed the Jets a playoff spot. I said they aren't making the Superbowl which could very well entail them not even making the playoffs.

I thought RealGM was just bad with basketball. Apparently it's taken over intelligent football convo too.

we went 9-7 last year and jusy made it into the playoffs, to say this isn't a huge loss is ridiculous...We are going to need people to step up big time for us but well see what happens...we have Jarron Gilbert on the prac squad i wonder if we would take a look at him??? Devito/Gholston need to step up big time

Yea but the Ravens had considerably more effective runs in the 2nd half and a lot has to do with Jenkins. But 2 YPC is fantastic defense overall, you are correct.

And technically you are correct, but we both know you were implying that the Jets were a lock for the playoffs.

And you guys the year before that. There's a reason they play the game each year. Results change.

When you rush for 49 yards as an entire team through the course of the game averaging less than 2 yards per carry there is no such thing as an effective run. ****, the longest run of the game for the Ravens was 7 yards!

Hopefully he retires and we can sign a good DT or draft 1. I'm not worried cuz Pouha and Devito are a gret 2 headed monster in the middle.

If you watched the game you would see a good amt of those conversions came off idiotic penalties. I think abt 4 of them. And how does Sanchez look like a bust? He played god in the playoffs and has a nervous game and all of a sudden he's a bust? I love how ppl always find so much out of one game and then get burned by reality the rest of the season.

The Colts get rocked by the Texans, give up over 250 yards rushing, 3 rushing TDs and 34 points but somehow the Jets losing by 1 point while giving up 10 to a potent offense and forcing 3 TOs is the even bigger story.

Return to New York Jets
