Cito to be honored prior to last game September 29th

The Toronto Blue Jays will recognize the illustrious career of manager Cito Gaston prior to the last game he will manage in Toronto, against the New York Yankees on Wednesday, September 29. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the pregame festivities.

Joe Carter, Pat Hentgen and members of both World Series Championship teams will be present, joining current Blue Jays in honouring the accomplishments of the highly decorated Gaston. As one of nine men on the Level of Excellence, the San Antonio, Texas native who began his career as a Blue Jay in 1982, led the club to four AL East titles and Back-to-Back World Series victories, on his way to becoming the club leader in victories with over 900.

To recognize the occasion, the first 35,000 fans will each receive a commemorative ticket and accompanying lanyard upon entering the stadium. Along with video tributes from several individuals impacted by Cito as a professional and as a person, the evening will certainly be one to remember.

I'm glad the team is doing something. I hope it is a great send off for the best manager this team has ever had.

All the haters need to stand up and applaud. I can't believe we have the same manager today as we did back in the heyday. But this latest run was very successful for him.
