Hopefully it's nothing too serious.

I don't really look at an injury to Davis and think "more ping pong balls, maybe?".
He is very young and this is his rookie year. It's not like he's likely to have a huge impact on win/loss either way. But for his sake and the teams sake, I want to see players like him get a chance to grow, learn and hopefully prove themselves. It's all about development!

It's already - what, September 17? He's probably already flubbed enough that he has no chance of pulling out his year into a passing grade.

and with mmy position of higher power than all of you minions, i will say there is nothing to worry about with ed davis. even a minor ligament sprain would heal itself in the next 2-3 weeks

This is sports, you can get injured when you play a sport, that's just the nature of the beast. Hell, Eric Montross ended his career stepping over a baby partition.

of course it can happen anywhere. but that's not a fair argument. the point is, playing against random scrubs is useless. it doesn't make them better and there's other ways they can market themselves. if they had been playing against nba competition and he got hurt, i wouldn't have as much of a problem with it.

But isn't that like saying shooting open jumpers doesn't make a player better either? And a player could tweak something doing that as well.

This is just an unfortunate incident. They played in these open scrimmages twice the entire summer, big deal, ish happens.

Oden was railed in here for injuring his knee playing against random scrubs. Don't go all soft now because he's our boy. He shouldn't have been doing that.

wow, sump succumbs to the madness that is the NBA offseason on internet message boards...

Hopefully Ed's knee is ready to go for training camp. Hope this kid doesn't turn out to be injury-prone.

sump's anger sent anger vibrations into Ed Davis's knee, causing permanent shifts in his knee power.

This thread just got a super dose of hilarity because of Sump.

We want more SUMP!

Who's with me!!

On topic:
I have to agree with a couple of people who have posted that this could have happened anywhere. Hopefully its something minor and he'll be ready come preseason.

Dude, wait a bit, he got too much money. He needs to make it "rain" and then he will be back.

that's not the same thing though. repeatedly shooting jumpers helps them build muscle memory and consistency with their shot. it's focused training. in these games they don't run actual plays, they're not building muscle memory, they can't improve their defense since they're guarding scrubs. it's basically glorified cardio for them.
