Love the Pats and I think that they almost need to do this trade. There is a lot of DB depth in this draft but not any top tier players. Lito with the Pats would work out great for both parties involved.

are you kidding? In the NFL draft the top 10 players are all looked at as perenial pro bowl talent. Lito Shepard is a fringe probowl player in the right defense. No way they make this trade... Lito wants more money. We would only get out of the top 10 to SAVE MONEY...

Now I understand that the draft is also a crap shoot and its possible the number 7 player is a bust however we have good history drafting high in the draft and I'd rather just stay put. Our CB's are servicable with Hobbs, Webster and Bryant. We also have Mike Richardson, Lewis Sanders and Willie Andrews. Meriweather should start at free saftey and either James Sanders, Rodney Harrison and Tank Williams start at saftey. Meriweather
could actually start at one CB depending on how James Sanders and Tank Williams play.

I would rather see us draft best player available, Gholston would be prefered. If we do draft a CB I say lets go for the home run and draft the best athlete DoRoCo.

Our corners are just horrid man. Hobbs in not a number on WR, hell not even a number two on most good defenses. The rest of the guys are just scrubs and depth guys, I think Bryant could be worthwhile, but he won't produce. Right now on the Pats depth chart Meriweather is listed as the number 4 CB.

Wow

This would have been interesting

The Patriots may have been able to get Jerod Mayo at #17

Would they have been better off rolling the dice on Mayo (who I now believe was their #1 target and they tricked the Jets into drafting Gholston who they view as a bust, same with Rivers) and getting Lito, or guaranteeing Mayo and getting an 09 2nd? Probably the latter, but the former if Mayo was a guarantee at #17.
